Mackenzie’s POV

When Callan stormed out of the kitchen, I stare after him, unsure what I should do. He seemed fine one minute and then suddenly he did a one eighty on me. I could feel the anger rolling off him as he practically ran from the room like his ass was on fire, leaving me standing alone in the room just as the toaster popped.

I spread the butter and then the jam on each slice slowly, listening out for Callan’s return. As minutes tick by and the broad shouldered man doesn’t return, I try to figure out what to do. Do I go down the hall and knock on his door? Leave it here until he comes back? Throw it away and make some more when he reappears?

‘Mama, come watch’ Maxton’s little voice calls out to me, and I quickly grab my plate, heading into the living room where my son looks u……
