Hallick’s POV
Seona wants to go outside, of course she does and I’m a damn i***t for not seeing this coming. The woman has been a star about our time cooped up in the apartment, barely leaving the premises and only really venturing downstairs so she can make her fudge for the shop.
As soon as the words passed her lips, every variation of what could go wrong floods my mind. I still haven’t managed to spot the vehicle that Mackenzie mentioned though I can’t really hover in the kitchen window for hours without alerting Seona to something being wrong.
As each scenario races through my mind, I’m aware of the change in the young woman’s face, see her lips part as she begins to form the inevitable words about it being OK, we don’t have to go.
I can’t, I just can’t hear her say that again, not ……
