Hali’s POV
My body tightens, my arms still in the air above my head in mid stretch as Gage’s words register in my mind.
‘If we don’t sell the cabin we can’t afford to buy the offices.’ His words bounce around inside my skull like a bouncy ball, and my chest tightens as I forget how to breathe.
Oh God, no! They need to buy that property, I need them to buy it! I need the commission from the sale! Oh God, I’m going to lose my apartment, I’ll have to sleep at work, that’s if I can even keep my office, how will I pay my rent and utilities if I don’t earn this commission? I’ve put off Eddie just so I could use the meagre dollars I had to keep the lights on in the office.
