Claude had just found her way into the palace, her heart pounding hard in her chest. It was abnormally quiet, and maybe that was to her advantage.
She made her way down the halls towards Lucan's royal chambers but could not get close enough, as a few soldiers were still strictly guarding it.
Slowly, she took another route that would lead her to the old library, one that was connected to Adeline's old chamber. It was discarded, and when she entered, there was no sign of a person having been there within the week.
She stopped, her brows furrowed. Where else could Adeline have resided? She was sure that Adeline returned to the palace that night and never left. She has to have a chamber.
She looked down at the bottle of poison she was holding firmly in her hand. No way Adeline would escape the slo……
