Evander looked up as the royal entourage made their way into the massive compound. He immediately walked towards the horses, his eyes keenly scanning them for Lucan, whom he knew would be riding a horse. There was nosign of him.
He turned to the carriage, fully convinced that Lucan had either lagged behind or some other thing had happened, and he slowly made his way towards the carriage.
He had been waiting to be able to apologize for losing his temper on Adeline right before they left for the trip, and the guilt had been killing him inside.
Without so much as a hesitant moment, he grabbed the door of the carriage and pushed open.
"My lo..." He started to say, fairly confident in Lucan's absence.
What he saw, however, left him stone cold.
Lucan was lying on Adeline's lap, his eyes closed in a pe……
