Evander broke into a smile, spitting out blood on the dusty floor. He looked up to Lucan, then broke into another bloody smile, his eyes slightly squinted.
"You are predictable. Far too predictable for a king that is meant to be one of the most dreaded."
"The most dreaded," Lucan corrected with a humourless laugh of his own. "Tis sad that dead men tell no stories, or your kinsmen eould keep you up all night with stories of why you should fear me."
Evander's mocking smile immediately fell, and he violently leaned forward, his teeth gritted, his chest heaving. There was a threat in his eyes, but both of them knew that even without all of the chains around him, he would be no match for Lucan.
"Tis good that I decided to keep you alive, however. You shall not meed those stories."
