Adeline's brows lightly furrowed as she slowly looked up. She felt light movement from around her, a slightly cracked breath, the presence of life that was not just hers. She took a deep breath and looked up to the bed. Lucan's eyes were still closed, and his fingers that she could have sworn she felt heaving against the edge of her hairline were still in place just as they were before she fell asleep.
Was it all just a dream? Had his voice so loud and clear and perfect been mothing but a figment of her imagination? An extent of her desperation? Has it all been nothing but that?
She swallowed hard, her eyes filling with tears again. At this point, one would believe that she has had enough of crying and that she would run out of tears, but with each string of hope that seemed to be violently ……
