Adeline watched as the caravan finished preparing for the travel, and she turned towards the palace, yet again, hoping that she would see Lucan coming to her. Just like all the other times, it was completely useless, and she turned away, a small sigh escaping her lips.
She looked down at the bracelet, her finhers running through the intricate designs, her heart feeling a little heavy.
"Adeline."
She froze, then slowly turned. Evander was standing behind her, now a shadow of himself, blood trickling from various parts of his body, his feet weak.
He gave a faint smile and started to reach out to her, but Adeline moved away, her eyes immediately blazing.
"Adeline."
"Lucan may have released you, but I... you are still nothing but a worthless criminal to me."
Evander's eyes widened, but he said nothin……
