“Open your eyes, girl.”
The whisper in my ear was as sharp as it was surreal. My eyes fluttered open, and a wave of pain rolled through my body. Every inch of me ached, throbbing with fresh wounds. When the car rolled downhill, I was thrown into the back seat by the impact. This… this might be the second worst death scenario I've lived through.
My hands were covered in gashes, skin torn from the jagged branches we’d slammed into. Even lifting them hurt like hell.
“Where’s Jayden?” I muttered, squinting through the broken glass and crumpled metal. I dragged myself up and peered out, searching the woods.
No sign of him.
Had he been pulled from the car mid-crash? Was he tangled in the branches? My chest tightened at the thought.
Pushing through the pain, I crawled out of the wreck, putting ……
