I suddenly jerked my hands away from Catriona's. The vision I’d just had—it felt too real. If that was the future, then I couldn’t take her with me. I wasn’t going to risk it.
“But what if it wasn’t real?” I muttered to myself. “What if it was just... in my head?”
I glanced at her. The hurt in her eyes made my chest tighten, but I didn’t have time to explain or comfort her. She walked past me without a word and slid into the back seat of the car.
I took a long heavy breath and followed.
“I’m not staying behind, if that’s what you’re going to say,” she said flatly, staring out the window. “Don’t worry, I won’t give you a hard time. I’ll be a good girl.”
