I waited quietly, bracing for his reaction. I had just told him I was returning the money and leaving this house—for good.
Jayden’s expression didn’t flinch. “Don’t forget you signed a contract two months ago, Ms. Catriona,” he said, voice cool and unwavering. “You can’t, and you won’t, leave this house before you give birth to my child.”
There it was—the cold inevitability I’d feared. I swallowed hard, my heart aching in my chest. “Yes,” I said bitterly. “I remember signing it. I remember everything. But don’t you dare forget that I nearly died because of you.”
