I came out of his office grinning like a fool. I was so happy that he listened to me and accepted me as the mother of the babies growing in my womb. I had been worried sick, day and night, about how he would react when I told him how I felt. I thought he’d be angry—but thank God, he wasn’t.
I went downstairs to the dining room for a second breakfast. Everyone was there, waiting patiently as usual for their Alpha. I sat down comfortably, still wearing a wide smile. Both Sandra and Godmother gave me a long stare.
“Good news?” they both asked at the same time.
“Something like that,” I answered, still smiling. I had been smiling since I left his office, and now my cheeks were starting to hurt.
“Congratulations, honey, on your twins,” said Godmother.
“Thank you, Godmother,” I replied.
