A tapping sound woke Helena up from her sleep. Who was at her door? She looked at her clock, 11pm.
“It’s Jackson.” Adessa sounded sleepy too.
Helena was suddenly wide awake. Was something wrong? Hurrying across her room, she opened the wooden door.
Jackson was standing leaning against the door frame, a bouquet of flowers in one hand, and a picnic basket in the other. Helena raised her brows.
“Isn’t it a little late for a picnic?” She was bemused.
“Not too late for a moonlit picnic by the lake.” Jackson grinned. He had been planning this all day, counting down the hours. He hadn’t realised that Helena would be going to bed early. He began to feel a little guilty for waking her up.
“We don’t have to go if you’re too tired?” His confidence wane……
