Marianne stroked Beth's beautiful red hair. It had been a couple of days now since they had returned to Silver Lake. Beth had barely spoken, she no longer needed sedating. However, she was a shell of herself. Marianne knew how she was feeling. She had stayed by her side the whole time, helping her remember to eat. Wash etc.
Beth stirred, she lay looking at the room. Everything that used to be beautiful and vibrant, now felt dull and empty. Nothing had any meaning. She closed her eyes again, wishing herself back to sleep. She couldn’t face reality without Dean. How could anyone survive this? How could she survive this?
When she had lost her mate, they had been attacked by rogues in their former pack. The adrenaline of fighting, and then fleeing, had kept her going at that time. Eve……
