Before I woke up, Aldo was gone.
Did he really ditch me? did he want to pay back for what I did? It isn't that serious, right? We're not a couple, he didn't say anything about getting Into one and I was sure he didn't even want to have something much to do with me.
Was I overthinking?
Sleepy, disorientated, and confused, I walked to the bathroom.
It was still early so I took time in the bathroom. After that, I figured out how to use the coffee maker and make myself coffee. I microwaved a meal from what Aldo gave me yesterday and ate it.
Getting out, I flagged a taxi and got to work. The first person I was at the elevator was the lady I met the last time. Today, she got dressed in a black body con knee-length gown. Her hair was high in a ponytail and her fine neck advertised a tiny diamond necklace.
Gosh! She must be rich!
I tried to cowardly hide behind her so she would not see my black blouse and yellow skirt. My brown shoes matched my brown Jacket and bag and I swear, I wasn't looking bad.
"Hi"
I was shocked because I didn't say anything. I looked at my feet, trying to look for what would keep me busy.
"I am Nnena," she said.
Nnena, that was a fine but strange name. I hadn't heard of anything like that and I felt like she was from an Asia country. Her skin was one olive, like a mixture of black and white.
Could she be biracial?
Her full small lips, full ass, and boobs, with her smile, made me envy her. Gosh, she was so blessed that I wanted to be her.
"I am Amanda White," I told her.
She smiled, looked a me for a few seconds, and brought out her arm for a handshake. I took her hand immediately, feeling very welcomed.
I wanted to ask her where she was from, I wanted to ask her if she was African or Asia because of the beautiful shape of her eyes but I didn't. I didn't want to sound racist.
"You don't sound like you are from here," Nnena said with her signature smile "American?"
I nodded.
"From New York. Are you Asian?" I asked.
She smiled.
The way she looked at me made me believe she wanted me to check her out again before she turned away.
"I am from the eastern part of Nigeria. Although people think I might be mixed because of my monolid eyes, I have no connection with them"
I nodded again.
I didn't know what to say and telling her that she was so beautiful would make me look like a creep so I kept silent.
While we were still looking at ourselves like best friends in love, the elevator door opened. Four men walked in, chatting loudly and I knew they were talking about women.
They looked at us, laughed, and continued with what they were saying. This time, it wasn't just about any woman, it was about me.
"They just don't do anything. I don't know why the boss brought another Woman" one of them said as he began to laugh.
The rest joined, laughing at nothing in particular.
"How many do you guys have now?" Another asked and replied when she didn't say anything "I think they are 6".
I gulped as I moved closer to Nnena.
"Are you going to babysit her?" the first one asked as he pointed at me as he talked to Nnena.
Nnena ignored them, she looked at me, smiled, and took my hand. It was like she knew I wasn't comfortable and her gesture made me better. She stood with our heads high, like we were the boss.
"I like you, new lady," one said.
I scoffed.
He likes me.
Well, I like their boss and I don't know if he likes me too. I just know that he kissed me and licked and fingered the sense out of me Yesterday.
"You won't be smiling if I report you. You are been watched" she pointed at the camera "Act stupid and get fired. Again " she smirked.
The way she said that 'again' and the look on her face made me feel like it had happened before. Even the way they seemed so uncomfortable after and moved to the side all through the ride made me smile.
The door opened and Nnenna was the first to walk out.
I was confident that they would not harm me. That they would not grope me or say any of their boring jokes.
The elevator stopped when I got to my floor and got off.
I went on with the day's work which was seat, watching movies, and trying not to sleep. In fact, I had no idea that I was an employee but since he did it for my father, I appreciate it.
It just keeps happening, I would meet Nnena in the elevator, she might meet those men and I do nothing. For two whole days and soon, it was the weekend.
Happy about how I would stay home for Saturday, I began to plan for it. I thought about asking Nnena for a girls' weekend but I didn't. I couldn't get myself to make the first move so I stayed home.
Saturday, 2 pm and I was already dying of boredom. I walked around the apartment, looking at what Aldo had done for me.
He hasn't called since that day.
Bluff, what was I expecting?
I soon went to my seat and watched nothing in particular when I heard the doorbell. I wasn't expecting anyone so I went, opened the door and found a delivery man looking at me.
He was holding a single rose, a box of chocolate, and an envelope. I took it, the smile on my face was so visible that the delivery man smiled too.
"He said you would like it"
I thanked him, rushed inside, and tore open the envelope.
"I want you back.
We will make it work.
Derrick"
I frowned.
He didn't even apologize, he didn't try to make it better and he had the guts to tell me that we would make it work.
I was pissed.
One part of me was so embarrassed for expecting it would be Aldo. I was already happy that I would have something to do with him or ...I just don't know.
I flinched when my phone rang and it was him.
Derrick.
I hesitated but picked up, I wasn't sure about what to do and I also didn't want him to get mad at me.
"Get dressed, I want to take you out," Derick said immediately.
I was dumbfounded and speechless.
"I am at the front of your door, with your dress"
I ran to the door, yanked it open, and was really surprised at what I said.
Derrick was dressed in a Blue suit. The cloth bag she held visibly showed an obvious skimpy black dress.
"I want you back"
"You are kidding," I said to him.
I wasn't even sure if it was a question or a statement.
I didn't know what to say or do so I just stepped aside and let him in. He walked straight to a couch, sat, and placed the cloth at the other other side of tye chair.
Walking to him, I tried not to look intimidated so I avoided his gaze.
"Get dressed"
"You are no boss of me" I blurted out.
He gnashed his teeth and I was sure he was trying hard not to do something. His gaze looked around the room, me, and the dress.
"I don't imagine to see you in London"
"I didn't expect you would ghost me like that in Germany" I replied.
I was trying hard to hide my anger. If I let him see his effect, he might feel like he was so important or strong.
I walked to him, stared at him dead in the eyes and said.
"Get out of my house, Derrick, I don't want to see you again!"
He didn't say anything, he just stood up, picked the cloth and left.
Wow.
I wasn't expecting that to happen. I was expecting him to yell at me, cuss me, yank me, or something like he used to do.
I locked my door, mentally reminded myself not to let him in my house again. Dang it! I should have known better.
