“I’m ready for a baby,” she tells me as I push her messy curls from her face. They’re always in her face, but she’s so beautiful. It’s just like it belongs there.
“I know,” I tell her, but she brings her hand up to grasp my arm.
“I want it,” she says so seriously. “I know you don’t trust Odin, but I do. Everything will be fine.”
I smile at her. I know she wants this, more than anything else in this life. “All will be well.”
She snuggles into me, the words I learned for her so long ago still bringing the comfort now that I’d hoped they would then. She doesn’t seem as small or afraid as she was then, though. She’s a strong woman, unafraid of anything with no fear of trying something, even if it fails. Freyja truly blessed me with her, something I will be thankfu……
