I had never even thought of children. I mean, of course, I have. I have always wanted a child of my own. An heir. But I had not stopped to think about what our mating meant for that department. She was right. What would it mean? How would they turn out ?
She looked away from me and, once again, sadness blanketed her.
I couldn't keep a family secret either. That was no life. Reaching forward, I moved my fingers under her chin and made her look at me.
" Do you wish to leave me ? " I asked her. I hated even saying it , I hated how it tasted slipping off of my tongue.
Her eyes studied me. " I should, after all you have done to me. What I have done to you. I should want to, but I don't " she admitted, and I felt a glimmer of hope. Until . . .
