Ember (POV)
I was lying on the cold ground when I woke up. I was in the dark, so I didn't have a clue where I was. That's when I started to remember what happened. I was in the pack house. There was smoke everywhere. I couldn't see and I lost Jason and Sam. There was a man who picked me up and carried me out of the house. He put a cloth over my face. s**t.
I looked around. I was in a tunnel of some kind. I could hear people walking around above me. I tried to yell, but no sound came out.
"Don't waste your time," a deep male voice said. "You have been given a very strong dose of troll bane. You're awake but can't move or talk."
"It's pretty impressive. It's hard as hell to get." the man said with a laugh. "You wouldn't believe me if I told you how I got it."
I tried to move but couldn't feel ……
