Asher Black’s POV (Ari’s dad)

My mate and I watched as our only child was driven away hiding in the back of her car. I never wanted this kind of life for my pup. On the run because she was born to be special just like my mate was. My Claire is just as beautiful today as she was when I met her 18 years ago. Imagine my surprise taking a run through the pack checking the patrols would lead me to my mate. A lycan for a werewolf. It doesn’t happen often that a lycan and a werewolf are mates just because of the difference in the power dynamics. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I am a pretty powerful alpha wolf. I needed to be to be with my mate. If I wasn’t then I would never have been able to successfully hide her from that sick bastard.
