Estelle
Why did I tell him I thought he was my mate. It was like he had me under some sort of spell, where I felt I could tell him anything.
I would have let him take me in the garden, once I felt his hands inside my dress I was desperate for them to touch me further. His kisses set me on fire and his touch soothed me at the same time. It was somewhat mind-blowing.
I tried desperately to fight the urge to follow him wherever he was taking me, yet I found myself outside his door.
As he waited for my answer something started to grow inside me.
“Something is wrong.”
Leighton dropped his hands, almost snapping from a trance. Opening his door he picked my up and placed me inside.
“I need to go. Wait here. We will continue this when I am back.”
“What’s wrong ?”
“Please Estelle, just stay here. I’ll be right back.”
He went to close the door and then changed his mind. Finding my lips in another sizzling kiss I was left reeling when he closed the door leaving me alone inside his room.
“Elle where are you?”
“Emm, safe ? What’s going on ?”
“A dark witch is here. Stay where you are, I’m going to help.”
Like hell I was staying here. Izzy didn’t say where the witch had was but it wouldn’t be too hard to find. Would Leighton stay to see if I disobeyed? Probably not it sounded like all hands on deck.
“I don’t have a good feeling about this. Make sure you don’t use your light power.”
Raine paced in my head but I chose to ignore her and snuck out of Leighton’s room. Following my nose I headed for the training field where I could hear a commotion.
When I got to the edge of the fracas I could see the same witch I met when we rescued the witches, only this time she was trying to open some sort of portal at the edge of the pack. Iris was fighting her, preventing her from doing whatever she was trying to do but some of the warriors I recognised were fighting against her. Her mate Oliver was with her, shielding her with his massive frame as they worked in tandom like a well oiled machine.
Luke and Leighton were fighting their way to her but as they recognised the warriors they weren’t fighting to kill and it was slowing them down.
Izzy was there too, fighting at the edge. The witch managed to open the portal and I saw new wolves entering the pack before Iris blasted her causing it to close. Clearly it took a lot of power from the witch to keep it open.
I decided that I was best helping Iris distract the witch. An idea popped into my mind that might jus work if I timed just right.
I snuck my way down to Iris, not being as nice on the wolves that attacked me as the others who knew them where. I didn’t have a wolf so I didn’t have the luxury.
“Twenty four hours human. Just keep us alive.”
Raine sounded nervous in back of my mind but true her nature she wasn’t backing down from a fight. I had a sinking feeling this witch was here for me, it was too coincidental and on the glimpses I had seen through her portal I thought I could recognise where the wolves was where coming from.
Before I could reach Iris I already had attracted the witches attention and she doubled her efforts.
Two wolves attacked Leighton at the same time so I blasted both out of the way, continuing moving forward to Iris. Hoping he hadn’t seen me, I figured he might change his strategy to try and get me out of here.
“I wondered when you would show up. Marty is shielding Flora in case we need her. Piper can’t get to us, I need you help.” I heard Iris in my head.
I could see Piper was actually able to use her powers a little more. While she couldn’t project a sonic wave she defiantly could pack more power into her punches but it was like the attacking wolves were determined to keep the silver wolves isolated.
“Next time she opens the portal we need to push her back in. It will close behind her and there are plenty wolves here we can capture to find out what they wanted.”
I let Iris in on my plan, and I saw her nodding and ease of slightly on the witch to allow her to open it again.
I wasn’t sure what the witch has planned but a few witches had come through the portal last time, they now were throwing potions and the air was littered with toxic gas. Anyone who breathed it in seemed to become confused and then started attacked us.
I targeted them, using the wind to whip the toxic mist up into the night sky, away from the innocent wolves.
A wolf attacked me from behind but before I could react I felt it being plucked from my shoulder and thrown against something so hard it wouldn’t be getting up. I didn’t need to look to know that Leighton had noticed I was here.
“Okay, she is opening it.”
Just then Oliver went flying through the air and didn’t get up. I could see Luke guiding Thea’s tiny silver wolf to him and I tried to hammer the witch with buffets of air. Her long dark hair flying around her wildly as she fought to stay upright. Screaming in frustration, she pushed back with one hand, muttering and using her other to open the portal she was going to be too strong for me when she could use both hands.
“Iris a little help ?”
Iris was stood over Oliver, protecting him and Thea. She caught my eye, her eyes widening when she saw the witches dark mist creeping closer to me. She hit back at the witch with a grey mist of her own and the witch had to pause opening her portal. It was just big enough we could push her in if we could overpower her.
Even as I pushed with all my might I could feel myself tiring.
“You need to o something. I can’t do this much longer.” Raine sounded tired, I knew I was pushing my limits because I shouldn’t even have her yet.
A bunch of wolves descended on Leighton and out of pure instinct I used one hand to blow them away.
I needed to shock the witch but that would give my secret power away. I looked up at the sky where thunderclouds were gathering. An idea sprang to mind.
“I don’t like it but I can’t think of anything else. I’ll try to hold on long enough to help.”
I used my powers to try and pull the cloud down. I could feel beads of sweat forming on my forehead but the clouds were harder to pull than I imagined. I felt myself being pulled up towards them.
“Go with it.”
It wasn’t the first time the winds had lifted me up, but I let them lift me of the floor the clouds started to move towards me. I could see stars diving into the cloud so it now contained a thunderbolt.
“Iris get ready.”
I would only have one chance at this, I didn’t dare to look down, my plan was when Iris gave me the word I blew the cloud into the witch and let her had a blast of light as well, hopefully hidden in the thunder cloud.
“NOW”
Iris sent a wave at the witch and she faltered. I pushed the cloud towards her. As it hurtled at speed I saw shock register on the witch’s face as she tried to defend against both.
Just as the cloud hit her powers I blasted light at it. Spots appearing in my vision and the howling wind that helped me up started to quieten.
“Sorry.” Raine whispered in my head before she went quiet.
I threw everything I had left towards the witch, the black spots started to merge and I suddenly felt weightless. I knew I as still too high but there was nothing I could do as my powers deserted me and I hovered in the air before plunging towards the ground.
Leighton’s face flashed into my mind and all I could hope before my eyes closed was that he was there to catch me.
