Leighton
I didn’t know what was up with Piper, she was FINE, which clearly was a full on bad mood. I followed her back to eavesdrop on Jacskon and the princess but she wouldn’t look at me.
“Okay fine. I’ll offer to Jackson that we help her go back and get the witches? Will that make you happy?”
She snorted at me, before we had to jump out the way as the princess left the room.
“Come in you two.” He summoned us, running his hands through his hair like he was deeply unhappy. “One of you go and gather what we need to attack this pack. The other find that damn princess and stay with her AT ALL TIMES!.”
“Okay I’ll find her Jackson.” Piper offered.
“Wait, what if she uses your powers against you to give you the slip? Maybe I should find the princess. I can lock her in the dungeons overnight.” I continued.
Pipers glare hardened but before she could argue Jackson interrupted. “Don’t put her in the dungeons for f**** sake Leighton. She is a god damn princess.”
“With all respect alpha, she doesn’t act like it.”
“Just find her and tell her we will help.” He looked thoroughly unhappy with this plan. Just as I was about to leave to go find Luke entered his office.
“We going to war Boss?” He asked.
“Looks like it. But I swear if anything goes wrong I’ll kill the damn princess myself.”
I knew where to find her, she was a fool if she though the witches could hide her from me. Thinking back to our earlier conversation it was as well Piper interrupted is when she did because I was very tempted to kiss the smirk of her pretty face, and that would have been a terrible idea.
In fact the thought of babysitting her all evening was not something I relished so, if locking her up wasn’t a plan then maybe I should find her and then together we could convince Luke to advance the plan.
I tried to ignore the image of the princess chained to my bed that my depraved brain tried to conjure.
She jumped a foot into the air when I found her.
“Mighty flighty for some great queen to be?” I couldn’t resist teasing her again, it was just too easy. “Follow me, let’s go get our orders from Luke.”
She flew to my side so quickly she nearly sent me flying. I scowled at her as I’m rubbed my arm, the girl changed from one extreme to another.
“Really?”
I rolled my eyes at her enthusiasm. “Follow me.” I went to leave then looked back. “You too.” I said to the witch, hovering nearby.
Estelle listened very patiently to Luke’s instructions. As usual his plan was simple but likely effective. The only flaw was attacking from the far side, which was to throw them off, but it made our retreat tricky.
He pulled me as aide. “Try not to head to Silver Oak if we get split up. Jackson might actually kill me.”
Due to his strategic positioning of us, it was unlikely and he knew I would do everything I could to keep Greer safe. He made it as easy a possible for me to get the princess back here if all went according to plan.
Soon we were loaded up ready to go, as expected the mated pairs paired up, each with a witch or warrior with them. Jackson wasn’t coming with us he had gone home to protect Greer.
Piper rode up from with me, with Estelle and Loletta in the back.
“Okay you all know the plan. We wait for the signal, until then, no matter what we do nothing.”
It was likely they would be moving witches already. So I needed to keep this three under control.
We parked up and Piper and I shifted. The princess rolled her eyes as she climbed on my back while Piper got Loletta. Soon we were in position.
“Okay, move into position two and wait for the signal.”
Estelle went to follow but I held her back. “We are back up.”
“This isn’t what I meant.” She said angrily.
“Well this is what you get.”
Iris had established a mass mind link, it was a neat trick that was so useful in battle.
“We breach on three, two ,ONE.”
There was a boom and the first wave advanced.
“We need to help.” The princess went to move but I held my ground. “Not yet princess, patience.”
I could feel her heart beating double time but instead of settling like it should be be ready for battle it was rapidly increasing.
“Calm down, you are no help if you are a ball of nerves.”
“We need to help, we know where they were.” She was still trying to pull her hand free in her panic.
“Calm down, or they will hear you.” I hissed.
“Leighton, I have a bad feeling, we need to help.” She protested and I could just tell she was going to do something to me so I did the only thing I could think to calm her down.
I kissed her. Her hands dropping to her sides in shock, I had only meant to surprise her into submission but the moment my lips met her I didn’t want to pull them away. Sliding my arm behind her back, I deepened the kiss before Iris’s screaming down the link for help broke through.
“Back up now.”
Pulling away, snapping back to reality I grabbed her hand, dragging her with me around the back of the building. My instructions had been to fight my way straight across but looking at the number of wolves littering that area I didn’t want to risk exposing the princess so I decided to take the long route round.
I kept her behind me, which made fighting our way over even more slow.
“If you let me go I can help.”
“Save it, we don’t want them to know about you.”
I had lost sight of Piper and Loletta. They had been stationed to the east of us, and probably got a head start while I was getting my head back in the game
“We have them, cover our retreat.”
We were totally in the wrong position to do that. I shifted into Titan, throwing the Princess onto my back like a sack of potatoes. Racing across the lawn I heard a click and an explosion picked up us and threw us miles in the wrong direction.
Titan curled into a ball in an effort to protect the princess and despite a burning fire in my side, she appeared unscathed.
Warriors descended upon us but she picked them up and threw the entire team away, back towards the burning fire, like they were nothing.
While my side healed, I watched as she vapouriest a wolf that got too close. I thought I had seen her do that last time we were here but I thought my eyes maybe were playing tricks on me.
There was a witches cackle and suddenly a dark mist swirled around us, ripping her from my grasp. She managed to blow enough away for me to get back to her but I could see her power was now lacking.
“Game over princess.” I shifted into Titan and barrelled the witch out the way as soon asI felt her hand grab my fur. I took of in the opposite direction of the fight.
“The princess is done, I’m getting her out of her. Piper do you have the east side?.”
I didn’t get a reply as everyone was busy fighting but eventually I heard Piper’s voice.
“East side clear, ready for you Iris.”
I saw the pack fence just up ahead. It was a big leap but Titan could do it. Just when I thought I was home and dry we tripped another booby trap and my escape went up in smoke.
We tumbled into a giant crater that appeared before the fence and the Princess now had a nasty deep gash on her head and shoulder she took the most of the impact.
Hauling her back onto my back I wasn’t sure if Titan could get us out when the Princess pushed herself of me. Swirling her hands in the air she created a whirlwind that pulled us up the centre and over the fence.
She couldn’t control the landing as she crashed us to the floor. Scooping her up once again she had just enough energy to hold my fur as I set of in the very direction I had hoped to avoid.
