“I don’t have a good feeling about this.”
“This was your idea. Leighton is totally going to blame me if anything goes wrong.”
“Why do you care what the hot beta thinks of you.”
“I don’t but I equally don’t want to deal with his attitude. He already hates me for, well just being me….”
“I don’t think he hates you, anyway pay attention this feels like a trap.”
“So what’s the plan?” I asked hoping the nervous flutter in my voice wasn’t picked up on. I knew I was busted when Leighton glanced sharply at the mirror.
“We are going to visit Kate, and then hopefully Leighton can sneak of and check out the situation. Kate gave us detailed plans so he knows where to go.”
“Okay let me see them.”
“Not required princess, you staying in the car.”
I snorted but the glare in the mirror told me he was serious.
“Okay fine, let me see them anyway so I can come rescue your ass when you mess up then.”
“You are funny princess.” He retorted but Piper silently handed me back the plans anyway.
I spend the rest of the journey commiting them to memory. Stopping only when we arrived.
“Okay, hide in the back and if we aren’t back in an hour, go get help. DO NOT GET OUT THE CAR.” Leighton instructed me, his words feeling like an alpha command.
The serious look on his face stopped me from laughing, like he thought that would work on me. I rolled my eyes instead.
I had no intention of obeying him but it was probably best that he thought I would.
Leighton
Why oh why did I let her come. I could tell from her face she had no intention of doing what I asked.
“Could it be you can’t say no to a pretty face.” Titan joked, a rarity from him.
“We both know I can.” I replied smugly.
“Enough, she is right, this could be a trap. Maybe you should take her with you, she would be easier to protect.”
She was safest in the car, if she stayed there. I deliberately parked outside the pack gates so she could get away. As she shouldn’t have her wolf yet I knew they won’t sense her either.
Kate greeted us warmly, hugging Piper before dragging her off to meet her mate, with me following behind. I was mentally checking out that the map she left us was accurate and it appeared so.
As we waited for her mate to appear I was itching to have a look around. I wanted to be out of here already.
“What’s taking so long ?” I asked.
“He will be right down, it’s still training. I thought everywhere would be quiet.” Kate replied.
“I’m going to have a look around, Piper signal me if we need to get out of here.”
I darted of in the direction of the dungeon, as I ran down the corridor they seemed longer than I expected. When I finally arrived at the first one it was empty, as did the next two. As I got further down it dawned on my that I hadn’t seen any guards and there was distinct smell of bleach, like someone had wanted to wash away any evidence.
From the plans I remembered there was another area that looked like it could be good for hiding things. Changing direction I set of, feeling like I was on the right track when the coppery scent of blood started to fill at air.
Just as I turned a corner I felt a metal pipe crash into my skull sending me reeling. I shook my head to clear it as I felt blood running down the side of my face from a cut it had inflicted. I saw fear in the eyes of the wolf that hit me as I came at him, making light work of him once I removed the pole from his person.
I hadn’t gone much further before I could hear more wolves coming. Now I had a problem as they were behind me as well as in front.

I had been planning to give them the hour. But as the minutes ticked by I got more and more worried .
Eventually I decided I would sneak into the pack, and if I saw they were both okay I would go back and wait.
Almost the instant my feet landed on the pack soil I knew there was a problem. Wolves were rushing, all in one direction, and not that which was the direction of the dungeon but what looked like a secret little room in the other side. I couldn’t see Piper or Leighton but something told me to head there so I ran in that direction trying to keep myself hidden in the vegetation around the edge of the pack.
I snuck down the corridor behind a bunch of wolves that were running that way. IT didn’t take long for the smell of blood to be overwhelming. As I ran deeper I saw a young girl chained to a wall.
She looked about 10 years old and there was something remarkably familiar about her. Using my powers to fry her lock I managed to set her free.
“I need to help my friends, is there more of you ?” She nodded and gave me a hug, I was surprised to find she was a witch.
“Can you find the keys and let the rest out?“
She nodded again and I promised to be back.
Racing on down the corridor I could hear the sound of wolves fighting and I wasn’t prepared for the sight of Leighton, bleeding badly, vastly outnumbered but fighting back as they had him pinned in a corner.
There was an impressive number of dead wolves between him and the wall and when he clocked my presence he immediately shifted onto a large grey wolf as the other wolves descended on him.
I didn’t waste any more time. I sent a blast of air in the direction of the wolves attacking him, hoping to smash they against the wall without injuring him. My aim wasn’t quite good enough and he went flying too while the two wolves closest to me I missed completely.
Now they were alerted to my presence I had no choice but to hit them both with bolts of light. I hadn’t meant to cause them to explode but Raine had a habit of taking over when I panicked and she was brutal.
Leighton’s wolf appeared before me, looking at his back to suggest I climb on. I had used a lot of power and did feel a bit drained so I gladly grabbed his fur and hauled myself up onto his back.
I tried to make him stop at the little witch who was frantically trying to free her friends but he shook his head and kept running.
We met Piper in her wolf form running towards the car. She got here first and shifting she was inside immediately, revving the engine as Leighton threw me in the back.
Instantly we were off but the bad feeling I had had since we left Eclipse hadn’t gone yet.
“What the f*** were you playing at. I told you to stay in the car.”Leighton shouted the instant we were off.
“You are welcome Jackass.” I replied, a headache started behind my eyes. I wasn’t meant to use that much power without having my wolf. The ungrateful wolf would be mincemeat if it hadn’t been for me.
“You have to go back for the witches. I promised.”
“We can’t just now, we are outnumbered and they were clearly waiting for us. What happened to Kate?.”
“Her mate showed up and started acting all cagey, he kept trying to lead me away from you. Eventually I clocked the warriors returning and put two and two together. When he realised I was going to alert you he attacked me.”
“Wait did you say witches, Kate said they were wolves.”
“No definitely witches, we need to go back.” I kept my eyes tightly closed to fend of the headache that was macerating my skull.
“Piper had have a problem.” Leighton shouted as I heard the sound of more vehicles approaching us at sped. “Step on it.”
The sounds for closer and Piper pushed the truck as fast as she could and it wasn’t long before a knock to our rear sent us off course.
Piper managed to catch it and press on but now we were on a dirt track. She tried steering us back in the correct direction as the sound of the vehicles died down a little.
Just when I thought we had lost them there was a crash at my side of the vehicles, causing us to spin of the track, clattering down a woody embankment, bashing of tree after tree until we landed at the bottom.
I screamed as the car flipped over and there was a searing pain shooting up my leg.
