“The beautiful maiden is by herself once more,” Tristan said as he caramelized by my side. I chuckled at my play of words.
“Didn’t think I’d see you this soon.” I returned, smiling as I took the flute he was handing me gratefully.
“The rate at which you’re handing me drinks though, should I be worried?” I asked him suspiciously.
“Ha-ha,” he let out sarcastically, “let’s not pretend we don’t notice all the attention is on Mrs. Grimaldi.”
I flushed at that and sipped my champagne.
“Well, I was just going to tell you, you can’t get the Alderidge girl drunk,” I told him, humor lacing my voice. He burst out laughing.
“Challenge accepted. How’s your fifth? Let’s go see who can outdrink the other.” He told me with a sparkle in his eye.
I chuckled amused, “I’d never say no to a drink. Get ready to go ……
