Chapter 40: Thalia

After we took a bath in the stream, I cooked the fish that Nero caught yesterday. I just grilled them. The two girls changed clothes at Sheila's house and then came back to my cabin with Daisy.

"What are you grilling, Thalia?" Daisy asked me with a sweet smile.

"I'm grilling the fish that Nero caught yesterday in the stream," I replied to her question.

"Really? Nero caught fish for you? What do you think got into our brother? Why did he let Nero see you?" Daisy asked me teasingly. I just shrugged, but deep inside, I was thrilled.

"My mom often grills fish. She catches them in the stream near the cave where we live," Alexa chimed in.

"Thalia, when can we go to my mom and dad?" Alexa asked, probably missing her parents. Her face showed longing. I crouched down to be at her level……
