"What are you thinking, son? Is there something bothering you?" My father asked, his voice thick with concern as he looked closely at my face, trying to decipher the troubled expression that I had found so difficult to hide. His brow was furrowed deep, a clear indication that he had picked up on the weight of my restless thoughts, and a pang of guilt clawed at my insides for not being more forthcoming with him.
"Nothing, Father. I’m just contemplating what His Majesty told me. It’s about the kingdom to the east that he mentioned to you as well," I replied, struggling to keep the tempest of swirling thoughts that accompanied my worries at bay while attempting to shield him from my growing frustration and anxiety.
Earlier, my father had recounted his decision to visit that eastern kingdom, ……
