Was I in awe or in horror? My mate just dropped twenty-thousand dollars for a date with me. A date that I would have happily got on my knees and begged her for.
"Where does a teenager get that sort of money?" My father asked in a hushed tone, while giving me an 'I told you so' look, as Lorraine retreated back to our table.
"I don't think my wealth is any of your concern." Lorraine said indifferently, giving a small smile or head nod to those who were shamelessly staring at her.
"It is if it could hurt this pack-"
"It just helped this pack. A great deal, actually. So I believe the words you are looking for are 'thank you'." She said, her head held high, the look in her eyes holding a silent warning.
And for the first time in my life, I witnessed my father back ……
