Chapter Thirteen
It made me think about the two men from the diner yesterday and the dream that I’d had about them. I looked over at Everly, watching her lift up onto her hands and knees and rock back and forth. She would be crawling soon, then walking, and soon running.
“What do you think, Everly?” I asked and she lifted her head, looking up at me with her wide brown eyes. “Should mommy call the handsome dragons?”
I sat the jeans down into their pile, sliding to the floor so that I lay next to her. “You think it’s time for mommy to get back out there?”
She gurgled, laying down on her stomach and rolling onto her back to look up at me. Her hand came up to tug at my shirt now that I was at her level. I brushed my fingers through her hair, pulling her close so I could kiss her sweet, chubby c……
