William’s POV
Rushing through the ER doors, I caught a sweet scent I hadn’t smelled in nine years. I immediately looked toward where the scent was coming from and saw Remi working on my Beta—my best friend, Trey. I gave her so much hell in high school for being human, but I have to admit, seeing her ordering people around to help save him looked natural.
Maggie, the charge nurse, came up to me and said, “She wasn’t supposed to start for another two days. I believe she came down to check things out after signing paperwork when he came in, and she stopped anyone from operating further on him because the bullet was laced with wolfvine. She saved a doctor’s and a nurse’s life.”
“I think she’ll be a great asset to your team,” I told Maggie, and she nodded.
“Looks like they’re transferring him to the Hybrid OR to operate. If I were you, I’d update his parents and make yourself comfortable in the waiting room—it could be a while,” she said, and I nodded.
I mindlinked his parents to update them that he was being transferred to surgery and that the bullet was laced with wolfvine.
We are on our way, Will, his dad Keith mindlinked back.
I walked over to the waiting room and picked a spot where I could view into the Hybrid OR to see everything. I sat down, wondering how Remi was going to react when she saw me after nine years. I made her life hell growing up. I wouldn’t blame her if she didn’t want anything to do with me.
But what if I had a chance to tell her I felt terrible for everything Trey, Elijah and I did to her?
Would she even forgive me for being such an ass?
