Meeting Alpha Will

The Alpha’s Surgeon 421 words 2022-11-19 00:02:37

Remington’s POV

The patient coded twice, but we were able to bring him back. I successfully removed the bullet and stopped the bleeding. We started him on IV fluids and antibiotics to combat the effects of the wolfvine. As they began moving him to an ICU room, I removed my gloves, washed my hands, and headed to the waiting room to give an update to his parents.

They were seated just across from the Hybrid OR—alongside none other than Alpha William.

I walked over to them. “Mr. and Mrs. Matney, and Alpha,” I began, “I’m Dr. Remington Hayes, the trauma surgeon who operated on Trey. I removed the bullet from his intestines and had to repair the damage to stop the bleeding. He did code on us twice but was stabilized and is being transferred to the ICU. We’ve started him on IV fluids and antibiotics to help push the wolfvine from his system. There’s no clear timeline for his recovery yet—he’s still in critical condition and needs to be closely monitored.”

“When will we be able to see him?” Mrs. Matney asked.

“He’s being transferred now. You should be able to head that way and check with the nurse’s station to find out what room he’s in. I’ll be up shortly to check on Trey myself,” I replied.

“Thank you for working on our son. I know you weren’t supposed to start for another two days. We truly appreciate everything you’ve done,” Mr. Matney said, and I nodded.

“Keith, Ayslee—I’ll be up there shortly. I’d like to speak with the doctor,” Alpha William added. They nodded and headed toward the elevator.

Once they were out of earshot, he turned back to me.

“It’s been a long time, Remi. I have to say, what you did today—stepping in and operating on Trey—was incredible.”

“Alpha William, it’s been nine years. I just did what anyone else would have done in my position,” I said.

“Call me Will. The only people who call me William are my parents. And believe me, once most people find out there’s wolfvine in a patient’s system, they wouldn’t have done what you did. Too risky.”

“Alright… Will, then. You should go see him—he should be waking up soon,” I said.

“It’s good seeing you,” Will said, then turned and walked toward the elevators.
