At about seven pm, the guests were seated and drinking glasses of wine as night approached. Family and friends were showing their appreciation to the couple and expressing their good wishes.
It had started with Siena's family. Her uncle had wished his niece and her husband a happily married life. Chiara had done same, saying how much she would miss her cousin and the good times they'd had.
Liar, Siena had thought. She was sure Chiara was happy to get her off her hair. But the feeling was mutual.
It seemed that pretence was the colour of the day.
