Chapter One: Return from Battle
The sound of the trumpets could be heard across the entire city, the cry of victory could be heard everywhere. The soldiers had just returned from war with the neighboring Kingdom under the control of King Khalil I of Mount Paragon__bordered by a mountain and protected by an ocean. Mount Paragon was the largest city in the Western part of Cameroon, and each time they went for battles they return victorious. This time, it had not been an easy battle and their opponents were the NewLayans of the Eastern Republic. They were known for being proud and audacious. They even went as far as to wage a war with the Paragons. That was absurd and the cause of their problem was over a piece of land that contained minerals, the most needed minerals of the world. It was difficult for the two people to agree, therefore war was waged against them. The soldiers returned in blood-stained armors holding their shield and sword right up as if they were on alert. From the look on their blood-streaked faces, one could tell that things were not okay but then, no one dared to ask further about what was happening. At first, the music from the trumpet was lively, it was entertaining as the entire citizens followed the entire soldiers who sat peacefully on the horses' backs. It was visible enough that only a small portion of the soldiers had returned meaning the rear were either killed or injured. They were not up to five hundred men and all looked exhausted. In a stretcher, a corpse was being carried as they thudded into the balance. It was unknown to everyone who wasn't a soldier about the identity of the man that laid lifeless in the stretcher. On the Commander's horse sat a beautiful girl, she looked tearful as she was the only female in the troop of soldiers. Her bloodstained fist and weak expression showed that she had been crying before now. The strange lady had heavy red hair that shown brightly under the sun, her eyebrows were beautifully carved and her small round nose was spectacular. She didn't have to think before crying because the tears flowed freely from her eyes. Each time the horse hopped making her slid from the house, the Commander's hand always stood ready to maintain her in the middle by grabbing her by the hair and pushing her to the center. Each time the action took place, she flinched beneath the man's rough palm which had gloves on it. The Paragonians wondered who the lady was, especially coupled with the fact that she was shackled behind her bag and red lines had already established Itself around her wrist. There is no doubt about the fact that she was in pain, yet no one is ready to relieve her of her constant cries. In the palace, Prince Khalil paced his room wondering why the soldiers had not yet come back from war. His room is an enormous structure that was highly classical. Although we were in the twenty-first century, as the prince, he loved the old fashion way of dressing his room. His master bed laid at the center of the room with a high tent on it. Two cushions were spread on it and it was neatly arranged with no waves on the bed; just like the way he loves it. The room had a large window that was open at the corner of the wall and it overlooked the fields. As he Prince of the Paragonians and the only heir to the Paragon throne, he had devoted himself to live for his people just like the way he has watched his father do with so much love and kindness. King Khalil is an example worth following, his rules and doctrines are forever scripted in his heart. Although he is twenty-three years, his father had blatantly refused to allow him the chance to go to war saying that, "Son, you need to stay here and make sure nothing happens to the throne," His constant reminder was clear enough for Khalil to stop asking the question. A look at Prince Khalil and one could tell how stressed out he is. Shuffling his short jet black hair, he wondered in confusion if everything was alright. 'Dad had promised to be here in about two months from the battle day when they had left and now, a fortnight had added on that date making me worry,' he sighed so troubled at his state. News had reached him this morning that the soldiers were approaching from the Eastern region and his heart had stopped beating, victory was theirs and so was the land that borders the NewLay Republic and Mount Paragon. * The sound of the trumpets indicating that the soldiers are around made his heart trip with emotions as he prepared to pat his father's brave back for returning home successfully. Walking towards the window, Prince Khalil pushed his head outside the high structure to see what was happening, and that was when a bird which was passing released its junk on Khalil's forehead as it flashed on his noises. "Yuck! this sucks," He screamed sending his head back into his room as he missed a chance to watch his father give a professional entrance praising himself as King. Rushing to his bathroom, he opened the door of his Luxurious bathroom space. It was large and contained every appliance a bathroom should need. This space was grande and it comprised of a bathroom tub which was empty, a shower in case one was in a mad rush, and a sink for brushing the mouth and the face. The gigantic mirror that stood above the sink was stunning and could picture out even a grain of dirt that was hidden in your skin. Looking at his reflection on the mirror, he had the urge to vomit especially as the liquid was on his face. "Couldn't that bird wait for a second before pooping? or was its action deliberate?" he inquired rhetorically furrowing his brows. His handsome features were stunning and besides the fact that he was stained, his handsomeness had not been taken away even if it was for a second. Turning on the tap, he used his hands to pass them under the running water and its cool nature refreshed him a lot. Exactly what he likes. Cupping some in his large palms, he splashed the water on his face making him feel happy. Pursing his lips in a fine line, he made sure that the dirty water did not penetrate his walls. Khalil is always skeptical about being clean, he took purity to another whole level and could damage a soul who dares step on his toe. Just like King Khalil, Prince Khalil is the true seed of his father and followed in the aligned ways of his father that will lead him to good governance. Mount Paragon was well known for its fertile soil, rich climate, and a fat state revenue which attracted unpleasant eyes to itself. They had relief features like The Mountain which is one of their greatest natural relief features, and finally the ocean that isolated them from the rest of the world. Though it isolated them, it didn't stop them from fighting against other nations and wanting to role them. * Prince Khalil who is not satisfied that water is enough to wash off the dirt from his face decided to take his face brush in order to handle his face delicately. He applied one of his favorite gel on the brush before approaching it to his face. The brush had soft teeth and its feeling on the face could make Khalil think that they were made only for him. A slow frown played on his face as he furrowed his eyebrows. One thing he hates is being late for anything, and now, he will be late to welcome his dad back to the castle. Yes, they live in a magnificent Castle which was constructed in the reign of the Seventh Queen of Parogan__Queen Louisa VII. She was a special lady, and when she died in a battle with the Fortburgs' she handed her shield to her General to be given to her first granddaughter. It is unfortunate that no one could bear a daughter from that period of time till now: the authenticity of the story was proven by the shield that laid in the Art Gallery of the entire Castle. After scrubbing his tanned face and making sure that his hue was completely maintained, he decided to rinse it off with clean water. Looking at himself in the mirror, he nurtured a plan in his head which he wanted to execute with immediate effect. Grabbing a clean white towel from the cupboard, he dabbed it on his face absorbing all the moist liquid that could be found on his face. When the towel was damp, he swiped it easily around his face as he wriggled his features. Despite the fact that Prince Khalil had lived an adult life while as a kid; this is because his strict father had forced him to live that way, there was still his jovial and playful nature which he had not retreated for anyone besides the fact that he is a prince and a member of the upper class. In Mount Paragon, hierarchy was highly respected, and members of the royal bloodline were highly praised. For now, I am the only child of the king and apparent heir to the throne, and in case I do not have a child before I die, the crown will be transferred from the Khalil's to the Zander's who are of the royal bloodline as well. Being of the royal bloodline was a very difficult task to shoulder, especially as everything is expected to always be in order. If a situation arises and people are making suggestions, your point needs to be strong and powerful, it does not need to be weak. Just like the powerful suggestions, everything about the Khalil needs to convey power, authority, and strength. At twenty-three years of age, Prince Khalil was well built, 6'4__slightly taller than the king who is 6'2. Every morning, Prince Khalil had the duty to run around the courtyard for about an hour, coupled with the fact that it was vast and could contain about three thousand Paragonians in its chest, with the people standing or sitting comfortably. He enjoyed the fact that he was loved and praised by the entire kingdom, and whenever he took a tour out of the Castle, instead of completing his tour peacefully, he ended up signing autographs from millions of people who loved him so much especially the young ladies. Prince Khalil stretched his entire body as his full length was revealed. If not for the fact that the bathroom is large, he would have taken touched the ceiling with his head__that is how tall he is. The sounds for the trumpets were closed and the more it got closer to the castle doors, it felt like the entire music was been chanted inside his room. Heaving a sigh, he wondered what was truly happening outside. The only way to find out was to go outside himself which he hesitated. "My face is so white, people can't possibly see me in such an awkward state," he lamented. He didn't lie at all when he said he was pale, in fact, a look on his face could let one know that all the blood from his face has abandoned him and rushed to the other parts of his body. Quickly, he searched the drawers searching for God knows what when finally he came out with a small tube which contained some thick substance in it. Opening the lid, he pressed it on his hand before moving it to his pale face. The color had probably been caused by the fact that he had scrubbed his face with cold water. Applying the cream on his face, he watched how his rich sin tone balanced on its own.
