A new school is like having a new life. You usually get a new home, new neighborhood, and the most important one..new friends. But unfortunately for me I never have to worry about the whole emotional goodbye to friends. Why you might ask, well I'll let you in on a little secret. I never have friends to say it to. I'm an outcast in every school I've ever been in. Which says a lot considering this would be my fifth school this year. My parents are very adventurous, I guess you can say. Mom is a New York Times author, who has to have new scenery to create her new masterpiece. While my father, on the other hand, has his own line of business as a lawyer. I don't know much about what he really does in that office all day, but he tells me he always has a client that needs some rescuing. I know that sounds silly, but I get a kick out of him telling me all the crazy stories about them afterwards. I doubt it's the real story about the clients, considering that would be leaking the evidence out about their personal lives. Anyhow, back to the best part. Redecorating my new bedroom! I love it. I get to try new things each time. Painting the walls, matching the bedspread, rearranging the furniture. It's just all exciting. At the moment I just now got my moving boxes up the stairs and into my newly painted bedroom. I visited this house a week ago to paint the rooms with mom, so when we arrived with the boxes and other items, it would be dried and ready. My new walls are a perfect shade of turquoise, with white stripes going across. I sigh with a smile on my lips as I come to really like the design. I turn around and start moving the boxes around in order for what I should open first to last. After moving so much, it taught me to write on the box what's inside, what number of order it's in so I can get it done way faster than digging through box after box. "Sweetie, foods ready." My moms soft voice rings out. "Coming." I call down to her. Well it seems the unpacking will have to wait. I get up out of my crouch and head out into the hallway. This house is lovely, with its huge upstairs. It has three bedrooms, all with their own bathrooms. I picked the one that had a built-in seat against the window. Which I thought would be perfect for reading or sketching. I walked to the stairwell, then started my slow process down the stairs. I checked out the pictures mom already put up, making sure she put them all in order. First one is my parents' wedding picture, dad holding mom in his arms as they both looked into each other's eyes with huge smiles on their faces. You can just feel the joy flowing through them. I've always dreamed of a relationship that my parents have. Mom told me that they've been together since they were in middle school, and to me that just proves there's true love out there. The second picture was mom holding her swollen stomach, while dad is behind her with his arms around her shoulders. Dad told me that he was so happy about the news of me on the way that he rushed mom to a photographer and got pictures made. My process of growing is the next four pictures, and then it's me as a newborn. I look so small and pink, but I guess you could call me cute. The next few are all of us playing around, me in different ages in all of them. Once I hit the bottom step, I made a right and then went down another hallway until I walked into the kitchen. My mom was standing at the sink, washing dishes. Everytime we move, mom thinks the dishes get dirty during the trip so she rewashes them. I find it amusing, but never dare to laugh or she might make me wash them. I didn't even get to say anything. "Your plates on the table. Was you making sure I put the pictures up right, again?"she asked me while still scrubbing a plate clean. I walked over to my plate and set down. "Thank you. Oh, you caught me." I said before digging in. Man, I must have been hungrier than I thought. Mom lets out a laugh, before saying. "Sweetie, when will you ever believe that I'll do it right? I memorize those pictures like the back of my hand." she jokes. I giggle, "Mom yesterday you said you found something new on the back of your hand." It was hilarious, she was just sitting at the table in our home. We were in the middle of playing Uno when all of a sudden she's like 'That's new.' Me and Dad just burst into laughter as she stares at her hand like it might jump right off of her wrist and run away. Laughing harder, she says. "Ha, ha, ha, very funny. So did you start working on your bedroom?" My mom knows me so well. "I was reorganizing the boxes. But when I get back up there it should all be put away by midnight." I told her before taking the last bite of my sandwich. I reached for my glass of ice water, took the last sip and got up to carry my dishes to the sink. "Thanks mom.." I told her before kissing her cheek and then continued "..I better go get started.” Once everything was put away, I sat down on my newly made bed. Feeling the dread starting to kick in as my first day of school is tomorrow. Slight anxiety attack, while I picked out my set of clothes and made sure I had everything I needed. Slipping my class schedule into the small pocket on my backpack, I then grab the other papers my mom told me to bring in to the principal. Sighing as I sit back down, wondering how this new school will feel for me. Maybe, I will finally make that one friend. I was never bullied, but I was never popular. A few people tried to talk to me, but I just didn’t want to get attached or let anyone in as I would most likely be moving in a month. Mom already told me the same line like always, about how I should make some friends as we might stay here, or the fact that she likes the inspiration so she says she wants to stay and soak it all in. Feeling antsy, I got back up and grabbed my notepad. Time to let my fingers move and my mind to still. Curling up on the ledge where I can see out the window, I started drawing. The trees, the sun slowly disappearing behind them, the grass, and a cute little bunny that was chomping away at some of said grass. Trying to put as much detail as possible, before he hops away. Something different catches my eye. Behind a huge berry bush, where it was the darkest, I saw big glowing blue eyes. Leaning closer to the window to try and get a better look, I pick out a long muzzle..is that a wolf? Maybe a coyote? I can’t tell what color it is, but I for sure can tell that it’s some type of large dog. Ooh no! He’s going after the bunny! I get up and put on my flip flops, racing down the hall and stairs, I make it to the back door. Rushing out, I run towards the berry bush swinging my arms. “Get out of here!” I yelled as the bunny ran towards the other side of the house. Hearing a growl, then a whiny, I walked to the other side to see if I could make out the dog better. Shock struck me as I thought it’s a black german shepherd? Maybe a mixed breed, it was huge though. It leaned down, scouting its body across the ground twisting onto its back while moving towards me, whining. “Aww, I’m sorry..boy.” Now that I can clearly see it’s a boy. I squatted down, until I was close enough to pet it. He stilled as my hand slid through his long soft black fur. “Wow, you're beautiful. Do you belong to someone? Well, you must be with how well groomed you are. Plus you smell nice.” I kept rambling as I petted him. Seeing the ground getting darker, I looked up. No! It’s going to start raining. “Wanna come sleep inside while the storm goes through?” I asked him while standing up. I patted my outer thigh. Hoping he’d follow. Sure enough, he rolled to his stomach and got up. He followed me through the back door, up the stairs, and down the hall. I opened my bedroom door to watch him rush inside and jumped up on the bed. Quickly shutting the door, I whiphered “Hey, don’t make my new sheets dirty. Lets go clean your paws up and then you can get back on the bed.” I told him, thinking maybe I’m slightly crazy to be having a conversation with a dog..well for this long. He listened though, he jumped down and walked towards me. Waiting patiently. “How's a good boy!” I said while leaning down and giving him a scratch behind the ear. I didn’t have to bend too far down, as he comes to my waist.
