After the sound of the bells go off, the students begin to pour out of their classes and fill up the hall way. There is noise as almost everyone is saying one thing or another. “Devin! Hey, heyyy!!! wait up!” Devin turns around to see her best friend Alyssa dodging and excusing herself as she tries to get to where Devin is waiting for her. “I noticed that you missed the last class that we had. What happened to you? Are you okay?” Devin asked once Alyssa caught up to her, sounding worried. “Yeah, I missed it because Reese locked me up in the restroom through out the final period. And no, I am not okay I just wonder how long I would have been there if that girl had not come in to ease herself.” Then she quietly added, “I was terrified.” Devin gasped and began to look around to see if she would find any of them. “Let’s go. I really don’t want to deal with any of them.” “Well you won’t, I will be the one doing the dealing.” Alyssa sighed and walked away from Devin who was still looking around, trying to find them. When she noticed that Alyssa had left her, she quickly followed her, “Wait up, Alyssa.” Once Devin caught up with Alyssa, she draped her arm over Alyssa’s shoulder and shook her gently. Alyssa’s lips were pursed and eyes were glassy, anyone who saw her would be able to tell that she was about to cry. “I am so sorry that you had to deal with that.” She nodded after what Devin just said, blinking her eyes. Devin was not done talking, “We have to do something about this, you know.” “The last time we did something, how helpful was that?” Alyssa asked as they continued to walk through the hall way. “I was talking about us handling it. The last time was just a mess that shows how much better it is to handle your own issues.” “I don’t think that is a good idea, Devin.” “Of course you don’t, you are just a goody two shoes, Alyssa.” “That is not the issue, you know that if I get involved in anything that is not allowed in school, I will probably get kicked out because it is me.” “Then let me handle it.” “No, Devin. I won’t be the reason you get suspended from school.” Alyssa sighed, “I can take all of this, we have what? Less than a year and we will be done with this place right?” “Right. Anything you say, Alyssa.” “Thank you. Now please tell me wh-“ “Who is that?” Devin whispered dramatically, interrupting Alyssa and making her look up to see who had her friend’s attention. Right at the hallway entrance, a tall and attractive young man was striding through the door. His blue eyes lazily taking in his environment easily as he was inches over most of the students -even staff- walking in the hallway. The moment Alyssa looked up, their gaze locked but only for a split second before she looked away breaking eye contact. “Let us go, Devin.” Alyssa said pulling Devin’s arm, suddenly uncomfortable. “Do we have to? I don’t want to.” Devin said smiling and eyeballing the stranger like almost everyone else present. “Well if you won’t move. I will, I have to be home early so we can do our assignments and I can go to my special place.” Devin mimicked Alyssa behind her retreating back before sighing and giving the dark haired young man a long stare before trying to catch up with her friend who was walking faster than she normally would. “You are no fun.” Devin complained the moment she caught up with Alyssa. She wrapped her arm around Alyssa’s arm as they walked out of the hall way, only turning one last time to look at the hot guy who had just appeared out of no where. “I wonder who he is.” She muttered to herself.
