I had arrived at school a little bit late today because I had to accompany Hailey to the hospital. Her sickness was getting worse and she needed to get her operation done as soon as possible. Hailey is the only family I have left and I am very willing to so anything, just anything to make sure she gets better. I have always been alone all my life, I wandered around the streets as an orphan . I didn't know who my parents was and and how I came to this Earth . I only know that I have been sleeping by the roadsides that's all I could remember. I beg around for money to feed until David McCallum found me one day and he brought me to his home and I was just 12 then. he completed all the formalities and adopted me into his family. He gave me a home and a name, a debt I could never repay even if I had offered my life. He called me Bailey because he said he wanted my sister and I to have a matching name and he would always say I have a very shining brown eyes and it always made me stand out among my peers. David was the father that I never had and his wife was the mother I never had. The accepted me into their family and they treated me like I was their own first child. Even their 10 years old daughter Hailey had accepted me as her elder sister. And we did everything together, from going to the same school to sleeping in the same room. We were like Evey other normal families, not until five years ago. Everything changed when dad had an accident and died from it, mum got an heart attack and it didn't take long before she died from it. Dad's brothers took away all the valuable things and properties. We were left with only the house which we ended up selling just to feed and also to help Hailey through school. I took on all sort of jobs to help us live. I was lucky enough to get a scholarship to study English in the university but suddenly Hailey fall sick and was diagnosed of her Brain cancer. Her condition was getting worse every single day and there was no way I could get the amount of money required for the operation, even with the countless jobs I had . And after today's visit I knew that I l to be really fast and serious about getting the money ready, but how on Earth am I supposed to get $50000 ? I was totally lost in my own thoughts that I didn't even noticed the car that was park beside me. "Hey bea, how are you doing? Stephen called from inside his Benz 2023.he stopped his car beside me and stretched out his hand through the window. "You got my stuff?" . Stephen king or Steve as he likes to be called is my classmate his parents happens to be one of the wealthiest in town. However, steve finds it really hard to do his homework himself. So I get to do his homework and get paid for it. "Yeah, right here".I said handing him his note book and he gave me 10$ for it. "Thanks" I said and turned to leave. I stopped again on my tracks as Steve called me. "Bailey, have you given my offer a thought?". I smiled before answering him. " Thanks once again , but I think I will rather not take that offer, it would be best if I rather stick to doing your assignment and getting paid for them than being your girlfriend". " So you are rejecting me"? He asked with a grin on his face. " No ". I said holding his hand. He nodded to my response but I could clearly see in his eyes that he was hurt by my rejection so I leaned closer to the window and used my hand to rise his chin and said "Really , I am seriously not rejecting you, but I just real don't want to be in any sort of relationship at this point in my life". " Since we are good friends why don't you just allow us to continue being friends then". He nodded and smiling as he said "It's okay love, I really don't mind being your friend for now but sooner or later I will surely make you change your mind". " Steve........" " Take care love ". He said and he immediately drove off, he simply didn't want to hear me reject him over and over again. I took a deep breath and walked out of school. The last thing I need right now is getting my heart disturbed by the word called "love" . I already have a lot of things on my table to think about and I really don't want to add love to the list . I was at the bus station, standing waiting for the bus that I usually take while going home. I noticed that I wasn't alone there were also two ladies who were also waiting for the same bus. They had heavy make up on their faces and the were chatting continuously about a movie the had watched. What really got her attention is the conversation was the amount of money that was mentioned. Conversation between both ladies. "Do you think it's good to be a surrogate?" " It's not bad, but I can't do it. I mean why would I finish suffering and then give my baby to someone else". The other lady said. " To me I believe it's not a bad thing. It helps put smile on other people's face , it gives them a shot at being parents too, it gives them the family they never thought of having
