Burning New Chances
He ran outside, panicking with tears and drool dripping off his face while his family's hut burst into flames... He could still hear that woman, no.. His mother's cries from inside the hut.   'why? Why is this happening to me? I Don't understand... What have i ever done to deserve this!?'   These thoughts raced through his minds as barbaric looters dragged him away from the burning hut... He struggled half heartedly whilst attempting to gather his thoughts and simultaneously free his breath from the choking shirt collar he was being hauled by.   After being thrown into a small cage with multiple other villagers, the boy scrambled up and ran to the bars just as they slammed in front of him. A buff man with scars covering his arms, grunted with satisfaction and left to lead the cage away, horses neighed as the cage wobbled and jerked itself, slowly distancing the prisoners from the village.   The boy watched as bright red flames engulfed the shrinking town he had spent his entire life in.... Well, his entirely new life. This boy's mind in fact had not spent much time at all in this village, he had lived there for a measly 2 years before it was pillaged by rugged merchants. His family, however, had treated him with so much warmth and love for those 2 years he had almost forgotten that he did not belong with them. He wasn't an orphan or a long lost son, he was an altogether different person. Simply put, he was a 17 year old teenage boy reincarnated into the pitiful body of a now orphaned child, a child who was eerily similar to a dead side character in his favourite book; "The Dragon's Master".   His previous life did not have such a dramatic beginning as his soul's new vessel did, however, he didn't have smooth beginning either. His divorced parents fought over who would hold custody, not to keep him but rather to disown him. They both disliked the idea of caring for him, and amidst being shoved between parents, his only lifeline, his dog, passed away. His dog fortunately died of old age with no complications, however, his mother took this to mean that the boy was cursed, making his father lose the battle of custody... Or.. Win it, I suppose. Then, at the tender age of 5 the boy was bought an expensive, luxurious apartment to live in with an unqualified nanny. The nanny was young and took advantage of the boys naivety, feeding the boy nothing but instant foods, or omitting meals entirely, lessening her burden to care for the poor boy.   Finally, after years of mental abuse, alongside the malnutritional diet, the boys life took a turn for the better. At home he may have been outcasted, but in academics, school and society he excelled. His grades soared so high that he got an early scholarship for after his graduation. If, by chance, your life has had no hitches or bumps, this boy's life will show you that ; all good things, must come to an end. And that's exactly what happened. The boys life was flipped upside down in a car ride towards his father's estate. His father had sent word that he was proud and wanted to see the man that his boy had become, after all those 12 painful years... The boy still desired the recognition he deserved, and on his way to his justifiable yearning, he was killed. Well rather, he died... But in truth, with every crash as the car tumbled down a rocky cliff, he felt hit. With every glass shattering impact  the car underwent, he felt stabbed. With every jerk his body made into the tightened seatbelt, he felt whipped. And his last moments of consciousness were filled with hatred, and revengefulness against his father who discarded him, his mother who never loved him, his nanny who misused him and of course, the world that overlooked him, leaving him to die... He felt. Cheated. Therefore, he felt as though he was killed.   After his terrible accident, he expected to open his eyes to the blinding hospital lights with a disfigured body, but instead he woke up to two adults, male and female, doting over him. It took him a fair 2 months to realise why his speech was so broken and why it was different from his original language. He had to re-learn this new language and tried hard to communicate with these strange people who seemed to never leave his sight. Then as he learned the language, he further understood his position and after many tests on the reality of his situation, his most logical solution was that he had been reincarnated.   Someone tapped his shoulder, he spun round. A boy just above his age, with short cropped hair, greeted him with a wide familiar smile. Ah yes, he was the popular kid in the village, the  one that adults and children alike applauded for his wits, bravery, and luck.   "It's fine, we can't mope around for so long, we have to escape!" The bold boy's eyes were brimming with ambition and motivation... "Jeascqui! Keep your head up.... I'll think of something.." Of course he would, he was the village's famed 'Lucky Charm' , named after his immaculate ability to attract anything good. In fact, everything that actually helped the town financially was brought in by this boy's luck. But how would this boy know how long to mope? He was already an orphan, he didn't lose his parent's, Jeascqui  had suffered more. Jeascqui was the one in pain, but once again he could not show it... He was not, after all, the rightful owner to this body.   Jeascqui looked up at the bright boy and realised the distaste he held against him. Even though he was an orphan, he was so bright, so happy, how did he live knowing his parents left him behind? Jeascqui felt a tear roll down his cheek, how embarrassing. Flustered the boy attempted to calm Jeascqui, but after the first tear had fell, Jeascqui did not intend to continue crying.   "I'm fine, lets just figure out a way to escape" Jeascqui wiped his tear track off his face.
