VELICIA Today is my 18th birthday. I smiled, looking at the mirror. Finally, I'm going to have my own wolf. I'll be able to communicate with my inner self, just like every other werewolf. I'm also going to have all the potentials a grown werewolf has, even though I'm an omega. Omegas were often treated like sub-wolves, but I guess being the alpha's daughter did have it perks, right? The mumbling, the sighs, I heard them all. People calling me weak and hopeless. Others said I didn't deserve to be the alpha's daughter. But it all ended there, cause at the end, they all had to respect me. "Still don't know how to do your eyeliner, huh?" The teasing voice from the phone I held snapped me out of my thoughts. It was my best friend, Rosa Sparks. "f**k off," I turned my phone horizontally at the phone stand so she would get a clearer view. "Finally, you will be able to roar like me," she chuckled, her voice high-pitched filling my ears. I paused, reflecting. "I mean, I could. During the lycanthropy lessons, we were taught how to do it, and it was fun. But as an omega, I don't think I will be able to do it really early. Might come later for me," I was sad for a moment, then shook the thought off and focused on the video call. A thought clicked. "So Rosa, I received your package, and what do you mean you wish I will be mated with a lycan? Those creatures are scary when they turn." My eyes drifted to the letter on my makeup table and I scoffed. Rosa always wanted to be like them, but she was born a werewolf. Had it been that she wasn't, then she could get bitten and be born as one. "The most creepy and scary lycan I have ever heard of is Alpha King Kemper. I hate him so much. I can't believe you would want to associate yourself with such people," I was done with my makeup as I then concentrated on the chit chat we were having. “Whatever, girl,” Rosa rolled her eyes. She then tumbled around on her bed, giggling and lost in her fantasies. “Like, girl, have you heard about his three sons? They are crazier than him, I so wish to get one of them." I shook my head at her because I was so done with her. She claimed she loved ‘toxic’ people a lot because she found them attractive. ‘If only she knew the meaning of toxic,’ I muttered under my breath. I wouldn't lie, but they were so handsome. I mean, goddamn handsome with their deep pretty eyes and long hair, they look huge and well built. Well, I saw them once in photos. I shook the thought off. “Lycans are the deadliest creatures, and we werewolves should avoid them, period. Let's change the topic.” She hissed as she sat up straight on the bed, blushing really hard, her cheeks pink. We discussed for hours before I finally cut the call. Rosa Sparks was a lone wolf, so I got her into the Red Bell Pack at highschool. She was so lucky that she got all she wanted, especially all the hot and rich boyfriends, but she was never the type to be satisfied with what she had. She dumped them after using them. She always had a crush on the lycans. I stepped outside the palace, gazing at the bright sun with a smile on my face. My hair, a mop of iridescent purple curls, gleamed in the sun. A brief glance to my left brought my attention to a figure running towards me, panting heavily. I could tell that this person was coming to the palace. The smile on my face faded immediately as I saw that it was my friend, Rosa. Huh? Someone I just talked to not up to three hours ago? She stopped in front of me, her chest heaving. "Look, before you ask what's going on, is the Alpha king around?" She took a final deep breath with her eyes closed, placing her hands on her chest. The bright sun itself was already going down as I felt my heart sink rapidly. Her eyes were red as I held her hand. "Rosa, please talk to me..." "They're coming..." she breathed, her voice fading off. “Who…” I placed my hand over my mouth when I realized. I shook my head, then suddenly, I heard a loud roar. I looked up and could tell that the rogues had broken into the pack already. "Oh no." My voice was already breaking. I couldn't speak properly. These monsters are here again. What do they want now? The first thing that came to my mind was to go look for my mum, since my dad is out of town. “Mum!” I ran into the palace, checking the rooms, shouting and yelling my mum's name. She was not in her room, so where would she be? Increasing the pace of my steps, the sound of my legs hitting the floor was echoing in the air. I didn't know why, but I decided to go check my own room again. The door flung open to reveal a shocking sight. "Mum?" I arched my eyebrows as I felt my heart beating tremendously. My gaze traced the clothes scattered everywhere, my mum in the middle, packing them inside the suitcase in a haste. She looked so nervous as she gazed at me. She gasped, then rushed to where I was and pulled me into a hug. I was so confused. "I love you so much," she sniffed, and her hot tears dropped on my shoulders. "You need to leave!" She released me, wiping her tears with her hands, and hastily went back to putting my clothes inside my bag. “W…what are you talking about…” I stammered, as the words coming out of my mouth were too stiff. I didn't understand an iota of what was happening. "I will help you pack yours..." I turned to go to her room. "Take your suitcase and leave this palace right now!" Her fierce words halted my steps. I turned around to see her staring at me with piercing eyes. This was definitely not a small issue. Why did I need to run away? And why wasn't she coming with me? I clenched my fists. These bastard rogues have done their worst now. I remembered one time they came, and all I knew was that they were saying some gibberish about a land that was not meant for us, then my dad was pissed and ordered them to be thrown out by the pack's guards. "Mum, I'm not leaving without you!" I said with determination on my face. She shook her head, then walked closer to me and grabbed my hands, dragging me out of the room. "Mum, stop!" I yelled, as suddenly, the next sound we heard was like a bomb. It was so loud that I and Mum immediately bent down and pressed our hands into our ears, and the palace building shook a bit. “What's going on, mum?” I asked, terrified. “Look, dear, we need to hurry,” she continued to drag me through the mess of broken bricks, leading us outside the palace. I looked around. Everyone in the palace was running out. Everywhere looked so tense. She continued to drag me to where I couldn't fathom. I couldn't spot Rosa anywhere. Moon goddess, please, it's not what I'm thinking. Leaves were flying everywhere, smoke filled the air as she dragged me to hide in a corner. My body began to shake, and the tears I was trying to force back began to fall as I saw dead bodies on the floor. “These bastards, the rogues,” I gritted hard against my teeth. A thought crossed me as I snapped my head to her. “Mum, is Dad alright? I wonder where he is now. And Rosa,” a tear trickled down my cheek. The dead bodies gave me chills as I wrapped my hands around my body. I felt like I should fight. I could see the rogues taking our pack members from their homes and slaughtering them. It was so traumatizing for me to look at that I turned my face away. They looked so scary in their beast form, you would tell. "Those are not the rogues," Mum held my hands so tight that I felt them burning. "They are the Lycans." My jaw dropped, my eyes widening in disbelief. The Lycans? I thought it was the rogues? Did Dad finally settle with them and create enmity with the Lycans now? What the hell is happening? Thud! We flinched as a body dropped on the floor beside us. We gasped as we saw the woman hacked with no head on. I looked up as the monster stared down at us. My mum grabbed my hand. “Run, Velicia, and don't turn back, I beg of you, love, please don't be stubborn and stay back," she said, her hands clasped together as tears dropped down her hazel eyes. "Gotcha," a husky, deep voice with deep black eyes and rough skin from head to toe, with a tail at the back, said. My eyes widened as I watched him wrap his hands around my mum's neck. She struggled to take his monstrous hand away from her neck, and all I could do was stand weak and do nothing. "Noo!!!!" I screamed loudly as I watched her fall to the ground with blood coming out of her mouth. As I was about to run to her side, his tail whipped me off, and I stumbled to the floor. "Wow! You really look like a precious stone one needs to handle carefully, what a wonderful gift to the king," he muttered as my eyes grew heavy, already trying to close down. I could see him taking another life before my eyes were shut. **** "Where the f**k am I??" My voice shook, feeling cold shivers running down my spine as I saw the chains wrapped around my hands, I struggled with it like I could break it. The place looked so dark except the moon light shone across the window. I fell to the floor as I felt so defeated. I just lost everything, my best friend, my pack, and most especially the one who died in my presence, my mum. I felt a little pain inside my head, but that pain couldn't compare to what I was feeling right now. These monsters, the Lycans, I knew those creatures were so disgusting, and the only thing they do is to take one's life. They have power over werewolves, and that's why they think they can do as they please with us. "Hey, princess," My thoughts were interrupted by the masculine voice. I gazed at the huge man, who was staring at me with a smirk on his face. "What do you want from me, you bastard!" I yelled loudly as I saw him clench his jaw, then he walked closer to me. I shifted back, my gown already ripped and looking like a rag, my breast almost popping out. I prayed within me not to be touched by this filthy thing. "I'm releasing you now, and get prepared, the king wants you!" He brought out the keys from his pocket and began to remove the handcuffs. Are they trying to sell me off? Or take me to the king of their gang? "Just kill me already, please," I pleaded because I was afraid of the kind of treatment I might receive. What if he treats me worse than death? He stared at me for a second as his eyes lands on my breast, then he grinned. "Don't even dare! You filthy bastard!" I yelled at him, I didn't even know we're the courage came from. "Or else what? And bastard? I will show you how good a bastard can be" He began to craw to me as I shifted backwards, I began panting with my mouth opened, tears leaving my eyes as the thought of what he is planning to do to me, lingered in my mind. But then a loud voice that sounds like and announcement stopped him. "Alpha Kemper is here!”
