Resisting My Five Mates

It was 5 a.m. and I am waking to start my day as usual. It's the same thing everyday...the routine. Climbing from my bed, I think to myself that the school week is almost over. The weekend was always my time to shine. I loved that time to just be alone, catch up on sleep, and hit a few parties before Monday could drain us all. I'm Lisa James by the way. I was just an ordinary wolf that lived in the Purple Rain pack. Our pack was not just some small pack in a forest. No, our pack was a large township near the outskirts of a major city. We had communities, not just homes and pack buildings. Our pack offered shopping malls, restaurants, and more for our pack and two neighboring packs: The Silver Moon pack and The Blue Grass pack. They were allies but with smaller packs. Anyway, I continue my day starting with a shower and dressing in my school uniform. Yes, we wear uniform and I definitely hate them. Well not entirely, I dont mine the pleated skirts. I go to the kitchen to have a cup of coffee before I'm off to another day of high school. Coffee was like my warm bestfriend with the best morning pep talks. I rarely ate breakfast even though most people think wolves eat 24/7. "Mom, I'm leaving for school," I yelled as I grabbed my car keys and headed out the door. My mom was a sweet and loving woman, who works entirely too hard. It's been me and her every since my father was killed defending a daycare from a rogue attack. My dad didnt have a special rank. He was an omega just like me and my mom. The day he died, he showed strength and courage just like an Alpha or Beta ranked wolf. I miss my dad alot but if it wasnt for him those kids would have been taken or worse...slaughtered. I pull into the school parking lot with a loud sigh. Here we go again. I hop out the purple charger my mother bought me for my 16th birthday and walk through the tall double doors of the school. Stepping into the cafe, I see my friends already waiting for me at the spot we always sit at. I'm not popular in my opinion, but I have a few friends. Three good ones to exact. Blake Boyd, Calvin Jones, and Cecilia Burkehart. Those three have been my very best friends since middle school. "There she is, finally," Calvin joked. "Haha very funny. I was taking my time enjoying my morning coffee before arriving at this dump." I replied back while sticking my tongue out at Calvin. "Are you excited bout your 18th birthday in three days, Lisa?" Cecilia questioned with amusement. When we wolves turn 18, we get our inner wolves and if we are lucky, we find our mates as well. I've been waiting along time to find my mate. I secretly felt like it could be the Beta's son, but Omegas usually end up with other Omegas. Though I had a crush on Billy Rum, I knew it would never happen. " I'm excited honestly. Cant wait to meet my wolf!" Cecilia's green eyes start sparkle and I know that means her wheels are turning. "What about meeting your mate," she questions. "I'm ready, but also alittle fearful as to who it may be. Wouldnt want someone that is mean or abusive." I say back. I was the first of my friends to turn 18. It made me more nervous because they couldnt give me advice since they haven't gone through it yet. Great, why me first? The bell rang letting us know it was time to haul ass to class. English was my first period and it was the worst. Not because of the subject, but because of the fact none of my friends were in this class. Well, they weren't in any of my classes this year which really sucks. I make my way to class in time before the warning bell rang. "Yeah, not late," I say slowly with victory in my heart. A few people looked up at me and that is when I remembered this school had not only wolves with great hearing, but vampires, witches and humans alike. I take my seat in the middle of the room in the third row. The teacher began the lesson and that's when the day dreams started. I tend to wonder off in my own mind about who my mate could be. I often hope he his sweet as much as he is strong. I mean I'm strong myself despite my rank but it wouldnt hurt to have a strong man around. I also hoped he would be tall since I am 5'9" myself. As I was wrapped in my own pleasant thoughts, i realized the class was ending. I stood to my feet, grabbed my things, and proceeded with my school day. Walking through the warm grass with with my bare feet, I head toward the football field and sit on the lowest bleacher level. I get the strangest thought that I am being watched. I look all around me in all directions, yet I see no one. Just when I was about to let my guard down, cecilia pounces on me knocking down on the grass. "Free period already?" She laughs as she sits up. "Yeah, you know this my favorite place to chill for those free two hours," I reply playfully. We both sit up on the grass pulling down our skirts and swaying our feet from side to side. "So how does it feel being the first one of us to have the full wolf experience?" I ponder for a second. Really thinking if i wanna show my least confident side at this subject. So I shrug and say,"first place or no place!" We both laugh and exchange funny looks. This was going to be a long few days....
