PROLOGUE
Dear mom,
I didn’t know that such a being existed. I thought of them as mere book characters; the kind of lifeform that only live in the mouth of a storyteller.
I thought that human beings are all that is left in this world, but it turns out that there are more things that we didn’t know that are outside. Most of the time we perceive them as unknown because we are not sure if they exist but then they do, and sometimes they aren’t even out there. They are with us. And they are real.
They all live in the same world as someone I used to be. They blend in. They do the normal stuff. They breathe, they eat, they play under the sun, they go to the gym, and they have a family that they support.
If only I had not been curious enough to look for them, this wouldn’t have happened in the first place. I wouldn’t be damned, hiding, and trying my best to walk the same path as they did.
Because I have become one of them.
