Chapter one - Summer vacation
Alexia's POV: Hello, my name is Alexia Dean. I am a typical 18-year-old girl. My parents work for one channel. That's why you can see them often on TV. Despite that, I don't do anything. I'm trying to get good grades. This year is my senior one. I have always wanted to be one of the writers for a magazine, so when I graduate, this is what I will study. Currently, I am single. There are many boys in school, but no one gets my attention. I mean that I am friendly with them. The good thing is that there are no mean people here. So, like every school, we have a football team and cheerleaders. The difference is that they are friendly and don't hate anyone. I don't like drama. That's why I am at this school. Two girls named Lindsay and Lizzy are the biggest gossip girls that I know. I have no idea how, but they know everything about everyone in the school. That means if they know something, the whole school will know it. That's why people are careful what they say. Personal conversations don't belong in school. I like these girls, but I don't know if what they do is right. I don't like messing with people's lives. I try to be an ordinary girl. I don't like problems. Also, I follow the rules. Something not typical for a teenager is that I have never been to a party. The thing is that I was afraid to go. There are drunk people, and I don't want a stranger to try on me. Also, I have never drunk alcohol. It smells so bad, and I don't like it. Maybe this year will be different. It's my last year in high school, so I better do something. I think it's better if I am myself. Currently, I am at my aunt and uncle's house. My cousin Macy convinced me to spend the summer vacation with her. For the past month, both with her have been going out, talking, having slumber parties, and watching movies. She is my age, so I feel comfortable talking with her about everything. She is single as well. Macy wants to have a boyfriend. The problem is that no one got her attention. My cousin wants to experience what it feels like to be in love. Unlike her, I am not that desperate. I won't deny a boyfriend, but I can wait. Even if I don't have one, this won't be the end of the world. I woke up and went to get ready. Today it's sunny, so Macy and I can go out. Her house is ten minutes from the beach. I know that she would love to check out the boys. Let's hope that her future boyfriend will be a good guy. I don't want her to be with a jerk. No matter if he looks good. My cousin deserves better. When I was ready, I walked downstairs for breakfast. Macy is probably still sleeping. She loves sleeping until lunchtime. - Good morning. Do you need help? - Thanks, Alexia, but everything is ready. Where is Macy? - I guess that she is sleeping. - I wonder how she will wake up for school. - To be honest, I have no idea. - I said, and my aunt laughed Soon, Macy came to the table. She was still sleepy. I have to say that my aunt is an excellent cook. Sometimes I make breakfast, but only when I wake up before her. For some reason, everyone treats me like a guest. It's not like I'm not, but I want to help. - Macy, what do you want us to do today? - We'll go to the beach. You know why. - Yes, I do. - I said, and we laughed - I wish that I could come. - my aunt said - You can do it. - Yes, but someone has to work. - Dad will do it. - Macy said - Excuse me. I am not a money bank. - he said, chuckling - Because you never wanted to. After breakfast, Macy and I went to the beach. I hope that we won't stay much. Otherwise, my skin will burn. Well, I can stay under the umbrella. We took off our clothes, and our swimsuits showed up. I don't know why, but whenever I do this, I feel exposed. Luckily, I don't get attention. I'm not fat, but I don't like showing much skin. I have no idea how other people do it. Sometimes I even feel embarrassed about myself. - Hey, relax. You look good. - Thanks, but I don't feel comfortable. - No one is checking you out. If I were a boy, I would say that you look hot. - This only made it worse. - I'm sorry. - It's ok. I'm glad that you said it, not someone else. - By the way, there is a party this Friday. Do you want to come with me? - I don't know. Parties and I don't belong together. You know why. - It's our last year in high school. Don't you want to do something crazy? - Let me think about this. - I'm not obligating you. After all, I want you to have fun. - Thanks. I appreciate it. - You're welcome. Macy and I were talking until she saw a boy. That's how I end up alone. To be honest, I prefer that instead of being surrounded by boys. I noticed some boys coming out of the water. One of them looked familiar. Now I remember. I saw him in a store last week. We never talked. Also, I am not interested. I don't want to fall for someone from another town. After all, when my summer vacation ends, I will go home. My cousin came with a boy. I don't think this will be her future boyfriend, but at least she is trying. The boy presented himself. I have to say that he has good manners. - So you are not from here? - he asked me - No, I'm not. One week before school, I will go home. - You will like it here. - It's sunny every day. So far, I like it. - I said, chuckling - Will you come to the party this Friday? - I don't know. I have to think about it. - No one said that you have to drink alcohol. - It's not because of that. - Don't worry, I will convince her. - Macy said - Oh, god. Help me. There is a bar on the beach where one man sells food. That will be our lunch. I ate fish. After all, we are at the beach. Macy was too busy with her prince to notice anything else. It's not like I mind. I looked around and saw some boys playing beach volleyball. I haven't played this in a while. Let's hope that they will let me play with them. Otherwise, I have to go home. I'm sure that Macy will stay here with her new friend. Since I have nothing else to do, I have to go home. Also, I don't like being under the sun for a long time. I put on some sun protection cream and walked to them. - Hello, guys. - None of us is searching for a date. - one of the boys said - Actually, I was hoping you could let me play with you. - You are kidding, right? - No, I'm not. Why? You think that I can't play. - I have never seen a girl good at sports. - Won't you at least give me a chance? - Come one, man. She can't be that bad. Otherwise, she wouldn't be here. - Thank you. - I said - Fine. You have ten minutes to prove to me that you can play. Two to two boys. I won't lie that I am not in my best form. Well, I am here to have fun, not to show some skills. If I ask this boy, he thinks differently. We started playing, and I have to say that they were good. These boys know how to play. Now it's my turn to show them what I can do. The first team who gets ten points wins the game. They didn't want a long one. After twenty minutes, the result was ten for me and one of the boys to three for the other team. - Do you still think that I can't play? - This doesn't prove anything. - Hey, I am here only for the summer. You can chill. No one will see you with me. - Except for this girl over there. I turned around and saw Macy coming straight to us. She looked mad. Maybe her prince said something. That is definitely for me. I think that she knows these boys. - I left you for five minutes, and now you are with them. - Wait, you know this girl? - one of the boys asked - Yes, this is my cousin Alexia. - Why are you so mad? - I asked - These boys are troublemakers. - Do you know them? - We study in the same school. - Ok, but what do I have to do with that? I only wanted to play beach volleyball with them. - Until someone tries on you. - They won't do it. - Why are you so sure? - Because they had a million opportunities. Moreover, I don't look attractive. It's not like I wanted to be. - They are the bad boys in school, so it's better if you are not around them. - Don't be such a drama queen. I'll be fine. - If you say so, but if there is a problem, I won't help you. - Macy said and left - She is your cousin? - one of the boys asked - Yes, she is. I don't know what is going on with her. - Forget it. Let's play. - This time, she will be on my team. - To understand that now we are on good terms. - Maybe. Will you play or not? - I won't wait for a second invitation. Especially from you. - I said, and the boys laughed I don't know why Macy got so mad. These boys look normal. Moreover, this is only a game. I don't want to date any of them. Maybe they have done something to her. I will ask her when we go home. Well, I can ask the boys. It's not like they will tell me. They can lie to me, which won't be good. - How long will you stay here? - Can I know your name? - Sure, I am Alex. These are Justin, Toby, and Jackson. - Well, you already know my name. I will be here until the end of the summer. Then I will go home. - I wish that you could stay longer. - Why? - Because you are a good player. There is a beach volleyball team. You can join. - Thanks, Alex, but this is not my thing. - What is your thing? - Toby asked - I don't know. I don't do many things. - Well, there is a party this Friday. You can't miss it. - Why does everybody talk about this? - Because it's the party of the summer. It will be in a huge house with many hot girls and alcohol. - The dream of every boy. - I said - Something like that. - Thanks for the information, but I might skip it. - Maybe Macy can change your mind. - We'll see, shall we? - I think that someone wants to play another game. - Justin said - I won't deny another one. Beating you seems easy. - Don't be so sure. - Let's play. The loser will have sand in their pants. - Oh, no. We better win. - I said - Deal. - Jackson said I played with the boys the whole afternoon. I don't know why Macy was complaining. None of the boys wanted anything from me. All we did was play beach volleyball. Probably, I'm not their type. To be honest, this is better. I have to say that many people came to the beach. I hope that the rest of my summer vacation will be sunny. I won't lie that I will miss this place. I'm having a lot of fun here. Maybe I have to think about this party. If I don't drink alcohol, nothing horrible can happen to me. I will be with all my senses. I have to think about this. Well, there is enough time until Friday. What I will do is enjoy my summer.
