Chapter 1 - Her Dream
And then she woke up, catching her breath as she dreams of him.
"I love you, and I always will, just come with me and forget him." those were the lines that keep running through her head. Why can't she forget it while it just happened once? Why does she keep on dreaming of that over and over? And why did it ever occur in the first place? Of all people, why does it have to be her?
"No! I can't!" she answered.
"I like you...really..." sadness painted on her face.
"...but I will never love you..." she doesn't know why she felt sad. It isn't supposed to be her reaction.
"This is just a mistake," she added. And that was the reply that she always gives while shaking her head.
"Why do I dream of him while it's in the past?" she keeps on asking herself.
"Why do I always go back to the past?" she continuously asked herself while still hoping that everything didn't happen.
"I never imagined that I would have this nightmare from my past mistake. And until now, it's haunting me," as Anne told herself. She breaths heavily as she catches her breath from her dream. The air-conditioned is on, yet, she's sweating.
A salty liquid falls down her face from her forehead down to her chin. She shook her head, wanting to erase all of the memories from the past.
She wants to escape from her past mistake, which she thought she had already escaped. It was wrong for her to like that guy and give him a chance to hold her body.
Touch every inch of her. And give her mind and soul. To give him a chance to love her.
The moment she realized that it was wrong was also the moment she couldn't notice that the guy was already falling in love with her. The past that she's been wanting to escape ever since it happened has been seeking a repeat.
Anne felt her throat dried up from that dream and wanting some water drops to satisfy her thirst. She decided to go to the kitchen and drink some cold water.
She then went to the living room and sat on the sofa. She was about to drink the cold water when she noticed something. She then put down the glass of water. For a moment, she got frozen as she heard some footsteps outside. Her heart is thumping. She felt that her throat is needing some water. She lifted the glass of water and was about to drink, but suddenly she saw an image of a person at the window near the door.
She almost dropped the glass on the floor upon seeing that image but managed to hold it. The person was standing there, and seems like he was looking at her. She felt cold and shaking as she felt weird. She felt like more sweat was falling down her cheeks and through her body, enough for her thin white shirt to get wet although it was cold.
"Who's was that behind the window?" she curiously whispered. Her eyes are trying to spot who the person was, but she cannot see it. She suddenly cannot move from where she was standing when the person began to move.
The person from the window began to walk and went near the door. He lifted his arms and was about to tap the doorbell, but he decided to turn the doorknob. However, it is locked. He then taps the doorbell at first, but it seems like no one is inside the house. He once again taps it and another one. Three times he tried.
The guy felt weird as she saw the woman's image inside the house. He knows Anne is there. She should be home by now. She should be inside. He notices that no one is moving. An indication that no one is inside. However, he sees the person froze when he again looks at the window. She didn't move even a bit, so the guy felt worried.
Finally, the knock on the door broke the silence. Anne was afraid to open it as she remembered what happened last time. A burglar attempted to get inside her house. They almost broke the doorknob, but the good thing was that she could get some help from the neighborhood.
She immediately called her neighbor, who was about to sleep, and they help her. The burglar runs away upon seeing a person coming. They change the doorknob for the more secure one.
The knock continues as she felt uneasy. She doesn't know what to do as she remembered that she left her phone in her room. She doesn't want to move because she's afraid to create noise. She's sweating all over her body. Once again, a knock on the door follows. She swallowed. And she swallowed once more. Then the guy started to talk.
"Anne? Anne. It's me, Erwan. Will you open the door, please?" Erwan shouted as he wondered why Anne took so long to open the door as he saw her image from the kitchen. He was worried about Anne's action. Maybe Anne thought that he was a burglar, which was why she was not opening the door. He didn't mean to scare her. He was checking her if everything's fine.
Anne lives alone in her house ever since her parents died. She met Erwan when she was visiting her parents at the cemetery. He was so focused and was busy with some stuff when they bumped into each other. Then they started seeing each other since then.
Although they have been together for how many years now, they never planned to stay in the same house. Mutual decisions. Sometimes Erwan visits her to check on her safety. Erwan is Anne's boyfriend for three years now. He is a loving boyfriend that will do everything for her. He believed that Anne is his destiny and will be his forever life partner.
