The Twin Alpha’s Destined Mate

Bethany As I rode in the backseat of mom's explorer, I kept my eyes on the scenery passing us by. The trees were black since the sun was down, and the moon took up its beautiful land in a dark bluish hue. It was absolutely breathtaking, and it feels like I'm the only one realizing the beauty of it all. I'm actually not one to stare out or explore to find beauty like this, no I'm one to curl up with my k****e and read paranormal romance books until it's time to sleep. Yes, I know that's not very healthy. Which is why I do a daily yoga session or exercise. If I remember that is. As I'm trying to hide my silly smile, I feel a tap at my thigh. Looking over I see Riley trying to get my attention. "Yes?" I ask her over the loud radio. She gives me an annoyed look then responds with "I said 'Can I have your jacket?'." Well it is pretty chilly here in the middle of fall, plus mom is smoking which means the window is down. Man, I wish she'd quit already. I shrug out of my jacket and hand it over to Riley, then pull my arms into my black stretch shirt. I wonder where we're going tonight, no one ever tells me anymore. They just tell me we're going out to get dressed and be in the car so we can get going. Leaning over to Riley I ask "Hey, where are we headed?" She takes her eyes off her IPhone and says "We're going to Elkview." Then her eyes instantly go back to her phone. Well at least I know now. I turn my eyes back to the trees and just take it all in. We went through town after town and then finally hit the interstate. I feel like laying my head back on the seat and taking a quick nap, but then one of my favorite songs comes through the radio. I start singing at the same time as mom, slowly the girls start singing along as well. I love it when we can all do something together like this and as my luck just happens to come true another song we like comes on. After what seems like hours of riding and singing we pull up, then park in front of Goodwill. I grab my phone and attach it to my camo jeans, then slide out of the vehicle. Shutting the door I turn around to make sure mom locked it up....yep we're good. I looked both ways before walking toward Goodwill. Man, I hope some good books are there. That's one of the main reasons I go. I absolutely love collecting more books. I open the door and hear the jingle over head. I turned and smiled at the lady behind the register, then continued on my way to the books. I already heard the twins snickering about one of the other customers. So judgemental. Then I looked at the person they were talking about. He was pretty tall, maybe 6"4' or something with long light brown hair down to the bottom of his shoulder blades. He wore a light brown leather jacket and some greenish black pants. When he turned around he had a pair of glasses on and he didn't look that attractive. But he wasn't completely ugly. But still I knew that they'd be picking on him until he leaves or us. I better hurry up and see if there's any good books, then make sure I go over and talk to them about their rudeness. So I turned to the shelves of books and started searching. ********** Damien I'm exhausted. I worked four shifts at the shop today and I still couldn't figure out what was wrong with that little toyota truck. Maybe I'll have Lucas take a look at it tomorrow. If he ever gets a break, that is. Lucas is my twin brother and we've been super close since birth. We still are. It's just ever since the pack has wanted us to either fight for alpha or leave so someone else can take it without us being a threat. I mean I understand in some ways, but making brothers fight for a title is just wrong. I guess we could leave, but then I fear that they'd never find an alpha soon enough to make everyone stay in control of their wolves. As my brain goes over every solution possible, I park my car in front of the Pizza Hut in Elkview. Well it was a Pizza Hut, but now it's a Subway. I texted Lucas what he wanted on his sub and got a text immediately. Luc: Hmm..I guess whatever you want. I'm just starving. P.S. I'll kill you if you put olives on it. Snickering to myself I send. Me: That was one time! After it was sent I got out of my black ram truck and locked the doors. I was just walking across the road and got the most delicious smell I've ever smelt before. It smelled like vanilla with a hint of cocoa...mmmm delicious. I follow the smell further down the mall towards a store named Goodwill. Hmm..looking in the glass walls I see just clothes and other oddities. Maybe they have cookies or something in there. I open the door and look around some more. I see at least five people inside. There's a woman at the register smiling at me with lustful eyes. Uhh, gross. On the other side of the store is an older lady with two teenage girls arguing about something. Poor woman, then my eyes look over to the woman at the bookshelves. She grabbed my wolf's attention and it took me a minute to pull him back. Well that's new. I look closer at the woman. Hmm a black stretchy t-shirt over a purple tank top, with a bright pink sports bra that makes me want to pull off her. I slide my eyes down her back to a round plump ass that's snuggled up in a pair of camo jeans...holy s**t that's hot!!! I take a good look before bringing my eyes back to the back of the beauty's head. She has long brown hair in a high ponytail with the ends curled up. I feel a little disappointed that she didn't feel me staring at her all hungry like, but then again I'd probably be embarrassed that I was staring for so long. I look over at the woman behind the register to see that she's giving me the can-I-help-you stair. I shook my head and then made my way to the beautiful woman and as I got closer I got overwhelmed by the smell of vanilla and cocoa....my wolf is going crazy trying to get out. She's ours What no, she smells human. She's ours..Our mate. I want her..Let's take her with us We can't just take some women. I do feel a pull though, so you're not wrong about her being our mate. I'm never wrong, well talk to her instead of standing here like a big weirdo Shit your right again. I look down to see that she's staring at me with big baby blues that feels like they're asking me a question. She has a nice round face, with some soft kissable lips. Clearing my throat.. "Hi, how are you?" she beats me before I can even get a word out. Hmm I like that she's not being completely shy towards me and her voice sounds so soft and caring. "I'm pretty good. How are you?" I am ready to hear her soft loving voice again. Her eyes beam and she says "I guess I can say the same." with a soft giggle at the end. Oh I want to hear that again. "I'm Bethany, Bethany Blum." She says, then sticks out her hand. I roll that around my head for a minute and come to love the name. "I'm Damien, nice to meet you Bethany." I say as I take her hand and instantly an electric shock goes through my hand, up my arm and right into my heart. It wasn't painful, it was a realization. That just assured me that I really did just find my mate. I can tell she felt it too, because she's giving me a shocked look. Giving a small smile she said in a whisper "I knew it." What? What is she talking about? Lifting my brows in confusion I ask "What are you talking about." She looked a little shy, but then I saw a spark in her eye as she looked me dead in the eye and said something that blew my mind. "You're a shapeshifter. Right?.....I mean a handsome guy like you walking towards a girl like me, then I saw your eyes get a little brighter. Plus I think I saw you sniffing me, and you're built like a tank. Let me see, did I miss anything? Ohhhh yeah, as soon as our hands touched I felt a spark and I know you did too." After she finished her speech, I think I felt my jaw hanging in amazement. How in the world did she get all of that??? I took another sniff to make sure she's human and not just another supernatural creature, but I came up empty. She is a human. No shit Great now I'm taking s**t from my wolf. After pushing him to the back of my mind I take a deep breath and look at her closer. Man, I hope she's single or I might just have to hunt the fucker. She has curves for days, almost the perfect hourglass frame. She's about 5"7' or 5"8' and I hope she's of age, because she has that shy but sweet look to her which makes me think she hasn't been through anything an adult would have to. Innocent. That's the word. But she also looks like she’s more mature than most women. "Did I shock you into silence?" She was slightly giggling at her own pun and I thought it was absolutely adorable. Chuckling to myself I say "Nice one, I was just a little amazed there for a second. How'd you know all of that?" Excitement instantly filled her eyes. Like amazement, love, and at the far edge..I found sadness. Did I put that there? Did I hurt her somehow? As I was freaking out and over thinking things, I almost missed her saying "Well you just confirmed my suspicion, actually. To be honest I was just hoping you'd say yes. Plus I read a lot of paranormal romance and shifter romance books, they give away information and things you should look for. So we're mates, huh?" Ohhh that made a lot of sense now. I wonder what shifter is her favorite..I wonder if she likes wolves. I want to ask her many things like: What does she like to do in her free time? Will she want to live with me after we mate? Will we mate? The most important one is: Does she already have someone? "Bethany?" one of the young girls said from right behind my mate. Bethany turned around and I instantly missed her eyes on me.
