Fresh New Start
*Grace POV* As history has proven in our family, nothing ever quite goes the way we plan for them to. For example. My aunt Lark. She moved to Blood Fang to escape city life and finally find some peace in her life. That lasted a whole whopping year before she just up and moved to Louisiana to be near my grandma and grandpas. She now owns her own quirky boutique on Bourbon Street, and is doing well. She's doing so well that we are discussing helping her branch out to other areas. My little sisters have offered to help run the shops in our area if needed. My aunt has been given some hard blows in life, but she has always gotten back up. I admire her so much because of that. In the past year we have gotten very close. Closer than we ever have been, and in my eyes, that's better than anything. Her boys, Zion and Link, have moved to Buck's pack, and Link is head warrior and trainer. Zion is Buck's gamma, and it turns out he was mated to Aiyana. She is expecting their first child in a few months. I can't wait to take her shopping while we are there. Olive and I are visiting both Louisiana packs this week, and it's our first trip without Samantha or the guys. They were hesitant about letting us go, but after I put my foot down, they changed their tones quickly. Jameson's worry is because of the whole Anne Marie incident. He is afraid that one of her minions may seek me out if they find out I'm in town. I think he's paranoid, but then again, he doesn't mess around with my safety. Even if her minions come for me, I'm more than ready. I have finally gotten the hang of using my elemental powers, and can now use them all without harm to Feryn when we are in wolf form. Once I got the hang of it, other powers started to emerge. Now, I can heal, teleport, project memories, manipulate the elements, and there have also been occurrences of clairvoyance. That last one scares me a little. I have seen things that could destroy our whole family. Luke says that we have to take the clairvoyance gift with a grain of salt because the future can always be altered. Especially the further in time we see. I wish that the vision I had yesterday was further in the future, because if it comes true, a lot of people will be devastated. "Gracie, you have been deep in thought since we took off. This flight is going to be a long one if you stay stuck in your head," Olive laughed. Olive's laugh was one of the best sounds in the world. Imagine the sound of a chipmunk and a hyena. You can't help but to laugh along with her. "I'm sorry. I've just had a lot on my mind. I had another vision, and yes, it could be just a warning, but it felt so real. Too real almost. I know I can't tell you, not yet, but if it manifests into reality, Olive, our family is in some danger. A danger so big that I don't know if we can overcome it," I admitted. My cousin knew that I wouldn't have said anything at all if it weren't bothering me. I have learned that not everything I see needs to be spoken about. Not even with my mate. However, I learned quickly that if I absolutely needed to speak with anyone, I would choose Olive every time. "Gracie, if it's that bad, maybe you should confide in grandma or Luke. This isn't something you should handle on your own. No one would think any less of you," Olive suggested, and maybe she was right. I would think about it a little more, and then make a choice. Right now, I don't want to risk anything. We decided to play cards and just enjoy each other's company. I knew she only suggested playing cards to get my mind off of what was troubling me, and I loved her for it. Mostly because it actually worked. When we landed, our grandpas were waiting for us with big smiles on their faces. However, when they saw that we didn't bring any of their great-grandbabies, their faces dropped. "No tiny grandpups?" my grandpa Loki asked. We shook our heads and explained that it was mostly business this trip, and since it was just a few days, we left them at home. "All of us are planning a social trip soon, and I promise you will see them then, grandpa," I smiled as I wrapped my arms around his torso. "It's good to see you, little dove. Come here, Olive. Give your old granddaddy a hug," he called out to my cousin, who wrapped her arms around both us. "Alright girls, if we don't get you back to your grandma soon, she is going to send out a search party," grandpa Liam laughed. He was right, my grandma didn't play around. She knew exactly how long it took to get from point A to point B, and if you were just a few moments longer than she felt you should be, she would start freaking out. Grandpa Loki told his brother to call Grandma and remind her that they had to stop by Lark's shop to pick some things up. So, like a good brother, he listened. When we pulled up to Lark's shop, I was in awe. It was so unique and quirky, just like Lark. The building was an old movie theater that had been shut down for many years, and she totally remodeled the inside with the help of her sons and my grandpas. Jameson and Sterling even came to help a few times. On the marquee, her shop name, "Song Bird", was displayed in old world Gothic lettering. When you walked inside, everything was carefully placed in an elegant manner, and it looked very upscale. She sold mostly locally produced items, except for things that were made from our other packs. She also had a small section for imported items that were sent to her from Devany in Italy, and Estelle in Romania. Estelle's herb packs were big sellers for the shop. "Oh, Lark. This place is gorgeous. I haven't seen it since you were first working on it. if we are able to help you expand, would you want to keep this aesthetic?" I asked. "Well hello to you too, little miss," she laughed as she hugged me. With her arms still around me, she said that she would like to do a mix of Gothic and Boho, to make it feel more earthy. More witchy. I thought that idea was fabulous, and told her that I thought that it would go over well. I had suggested at least two more locations for now, but after seeing this and how well she was doing, I changed the number to four. "I think we should push for four shops. We could do one in Salem, Massachusetts, Portland, Seattle, and maybe even somewhere in Colorado. What do you think?" I asked. She said that she would definitely like to try Salem, Portland and Colorado. However, I think Seattle and Portland would be too close together. She might have a point. "What would you think about Amityville, New York? I think that it would give a good spacing distance, and they are all locations that attract the kind of clients I'm looking for," she replied. I love that idea. Let's do this. While I'm here, write a proposal, state the locations desired, and I will arrange the trips to the locations so we can search for a storefront. If we can get enough help, we can get these shops up and running in no time," I smiled. We set a time for the two of us to sit down and make plans. This venture might just be what I need to get myself back in the right frame of mind. It's been far too long of me being just a leader, and not enough of me doing things I enjoy.
