Chapter 1- Dark Woods
The more vicious the downpour of the rain the calmer her heart, yet it bites at her face and sting her eyes, narrowed to keep out the relentless curtain of rain. Dr. Vivian Columbres refuses to be reduced by this frigid storm, she embraces it as her father in arms, a generous blessing from the gods. However, running was never her forte, she was never an athletic type but here she was running for her life, her little dainty party dress was ruin just like her sanity, its earlier pristine silky white was now covered in dirt. It gave no protection against even in a summer breeze, let alone the bitter onslaught of chilly rain. How could fate play her like this? She was just trying to be a considerate person and be nice towards the man and offer her help, “How stupid of me!” She muttered. How could she thought that helping a wounded man on the side of the road would lead her to this mess? If she hadn't stopped and helped the guy then she could guess to be at the party now, sipping her wine, chatting with her co-workers, and flirting and enjoying the night. How could she be this unfortunate? Thinking about what happens earlier made her want to gag, the man was covered in blood and wounded, it looks like he was attacked by some wild animals and as a doctor, it was her duty to help. When he assisted the man, he had started biting her instead, then he unexpectedly convulsed and fainted. When she took his wrist to check his heartbeat, she knew he was gone, and she was too late to do CPR. Then abruptly, came from nowhere a vicious wild wolf attacked her from behind and though she panics, her mind had instructed her to go to the woods rather. Foolish by anyone's standard, she was supposed to go the road where she'd park her car from the side. Somewhat, she runs away and enters these godforsaken woods. Nonetheless, the wolves halted running after they both took a bite from her arms, she was still in panic mode and didn't stop running. Now here she was, lost and alone. Foolish mistake. “Agh! How stupid of you Vivian!” It seems like she couldn't stop blaming herself for these ordeals. “Now what? I'm supposed to do now?” The wind penetrated her silky dress with absurd discomfort and every drop of icy rain soaked through the second of its impact. Her body heat didn't so much as a soakaway or leach out deliberately, it abandoned her with a cruel rate to leave her vulnerable and trembling, too weak to either run or walk. “What have I gotten myself into?” She looks around and discovered that she was still on this secluded wood running in a circle, the bare branches of trees speared into the sky — no sign of life to be found anywhere. It was so dark she could barely see where she was going. Vivian hurriedly runs away after a minute of rest. She was now ready to take drastic action towards her insanity, these woods gives her a creep and her mind was nowhere to be found, her instinct was telling her to stay away from the darkness. She doesn't know what laid in the woods, yet all that she felt was it wasn't going to be a peaceful journey out from this wilderness. She wanted to stop for a rest when unawares, a low humming commenced behind her. Whirling around, she saw what looked like a low, dark cloud. Soon the humming evolved louder and the dark cloud became enormous and darker. Vivian then realized with horror that a swarm of vicious bats was about to encircle her. Rapidly she shot her hands in front of her face, and yet it didn't do any good. “Oh God, I'm going to die here.” She screeched, her eyes were now glossy. How was this possible for the bats to attacked her when there was heavy rain all around her? “Ahh!” Help! Can somebody help me!” She shrieks for help and began running blindly. How crazy of her to ask for help, no one will rescue her, she thought. She will die here from bats bite or worse from hyperthermia. All was lost! Goodbye world. “Enough!” Came a voice from behind her. The shriek of the creatures had vanished as they flew away never to be seen again. “Oh! God, ...” She shuddered, her mind was hazed, and she was almost on the verge of her consciousness willing to die. “Who are you? Why are you here in my woods?” Came the raw chilly voice that gives her a shiver. Vivian turned her head all around and saw no one from her back, she was confused, was she hearing things? Where could the voice come from? She thought. “Who are you human?” Came a shout. “Where are you?” She shouted back, where could the voice be? She saw the leaves and trees parading side to side and smelled the fresh air that passed her way. The rain now ceases. She began to breathe the cool air more quickly. However, the darkness pressed in on her from all sides and her body wailed for her to run. Yet, she sank to her bottom on the damp earth and settled in to stay. She was too tired, the adrenaline that runs through her veins earlier was now withering and her vision began to blur as she succumbed to oblivion. “Unbelievable!” the voice mumbled. He came down from the tree and went to her side. Who dares disturb his rest now? Who could this human be? Looking at the unconscious woman he began to wrinkle his nose in the air and went further to her side, he sniffed her. “Strange, this woman doesn't have any scent! Somehow her wound smells a rogue.” How is this possible? No living creature, great and small who doesn't have a scent. But this human has nothing, he sniffed her again this time near her collar bone, ...” Odd indeed.”
