Sacha Torres has been trained all her life to hate and hunt any werewolf she ever lays eyes on. It has been a family tradition to hunt them down as werewolves were known to be dangerous to humankind. Well, some. Since they didn't hunt every single one of them.

But...were they?

Because after meeting Nikolai, the new Alpha of Mystic Wood pack, secrets begin to unfold, and could it be that Sasha isn't who she thinks she is?

Chapter One
Sasha “Ouch!” I winced and brought my injured hand to my lips, sucking on the blood that now dropped from it. I absolutely hated archery, with every thing in me, and I was very sure my father knew that. But of course, Sasha needed to be perfect in every single art. It was all part of being a huntress. “I told you to keep your feet apart so you could have enough balance when shooting.” James Torres stood a few feet above me, shading his eyes with his hands as he spoke. “Now get your hands out of your mouth, and do it again. Don’t ever back down on pain, accept it, it would make you stronger.” He bellowed and walked back, out of my sight. “You still have two hours of training before we go back!” Even in the distance, Gus voice still carried a lot of weight. Damn it! Sometimes I couldn’t help despise my father for how harshly he treated me. But he was my father, and nothing I could ever do could change that. And I was sure he loved me, in his own way. “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. “I started to chant repeatedly, raising my bow to take a shot. Deep down inside of me, I knew I didn’t believe in the stupid mantra my father made at every chance he got. Even made me say it over a hundred times, each time I trained. I fired, and let out a deep sigh of relief when the arrow went through the eye of the scissors, that James had set up for training. I fired two more arrows and walked down to the bush were our set up was, retrieved my arrows, and proceeded to sit down. Knowing my father, he must have gone a good distance away from where I was, to train other hunters. Hunters. My family was from a long line of werewolf hunters, and we made sure none of them crossed into the human territory without arrest. Hunters had different levels, each with their own job to do. I was a level 9, James was a level 12, the highest of levels. Figures, since he was literally the head. While I followed on missions, and even went on my own missions, I was only allowed to make arrests, while the level 12 hunters took care of the prisoners. I had always been curious to know what happened to the prisoners, but I hadn't ever asked, since it was a rule for us not to meddle in what went down in other levels. I looked at my injured hand which now stung only a little bit. My father was right, pain did make one stronger. The pain I felt on my hand, was way less than what I faced, every morning of my life. I hadn’t told anyone about the excruciating pain that had me mostly blacking out every morning. If I did, I knew what was going to happen, and it wasn’t going to end well for me. “Take those to the back.” I ordered Derrick, a level six hunter. We were back at what we usually called a ‘pack house’ mainly as a jest to the werewolves. It was always funny each time we joked about it. But it was really just a very big piece of land on the outskirts of town, where small houses were built by hunters, to contain them and their various families. “Sasha?” I turned to see my uncle, Riley, beckoning me over. He was a very tall man, six feet and four inches to be precise, while I was a five eleven. “Does my father need me?” I asked, walking over to where he stood. He shook his head no, and I nodded, I and Uncle Riley had been pretty close, closer than I was to my own father. It was he and his wife that thought me most of what I knew as a person, rather than a hunter. They didn’t have a child, and I could remember the endless numbers of holiday I had spent in their house as a teenager. “Your father doesn’t need you, Sasha.” He smiled at me and placed a hand over my shoulder, leading me outside. “Take a walk with me?” He asked, and I nodded, following him outside the house. He and my aunt had moved out of the mansion belonging to the Torres family when they had gotten married, about fifteen years ago. My father had been so mad about it, and still was. But my uncle had insisted that he and his wife wanted their own space, and now at the age of twenty four, I understood what they meant. “How was training today?” He asked from beside me, just staring straight ahead. “Not so bad. Considering it was archery today, and you know how much I hate it.” I didn’t know why I hated it so much, but I just did. “Hmm…hope James is not being too hard on you?” We stopped walking as we reached the lake at the back of the mansion. I shook my head. “You know I’m pretty much used to my father by now_” my words were cut off by a very sharp pain in my head. I closed my eyes tightly as it came, feeling like someone was ripping my head to pieces. “Sasha?” I could hear my uncle call my name, but I could do anything or respond, and instead, fell forward into him, as pain ripped through my skull. “Sasch_oh s**t!” Those were the last words I heard as darkness enveloped me. NIKOLAI I woke up from my sleep with a start, swinging my legs to the floor with so much swiftness that I felt a little dizzy. A quick look at the clock on the wall, told me that it was just a few minutes past two in the morning, and it was very dark outside. Even my wolf still slept soundly within me, and growled a little as I got up from my bed. The pack house was extremely quiet at this time of the night and since we already had hyper senses, we could hear a pin drop. Something had woken me up. But I couldn’t tell what it was. I pulled on a sweatshirt and sweatpants I found on the chair net to my bed. I usually slept naked, and had made a habit of keeping clothes very close to me. I sighed and walked towards my bedroom door, preparing to head downstairs when I heard it. “Where am I?” It was a whisper. A very low whisper. So low that I couldn’t even tell if it was a male or a female. I frowned and looked around me. There was no one in my room. I pulled the door open, slowly, and peeled into the hallway. No one. “Please…don’t hurt me..I beg you..” the voice came again, this time, very clear. It was a woman. ”Help!” I didn’t even realize when I ran out of the house, towards where I thought the voice was coming from, but stopped in my tracks as I found myself at the river behind the pack house. The hairs on my hands stood as I noticed how deserted it was. Usually, there were people parading as they took turns guarding the pack. Especially close to the river. We never left the river without at least three sentinels guarding it. “No….” The voice came again, and I took a few steps toward the river, where the voice was coming from….then I saw her. She sat with her back to me, her arms wrapped around her as she rocked back and forth. The night’s breeze flowed through her wavy blonde hair.. “Who are you?” I asked, still looking around me. Something felt off. Really off. She stilled. “Go away…he’s coming.” She answered, and continued to rock back and forth. I frowned and looked around again. There was no one in sight. “Who’s coming?” I asked, taking a step close to her, but she stilled and pointed to her right. “Him.” I followed her hand to the direction she was pointing, before stepping back as dread washed over me. I couldn’t get away in time before the arrow pierced into my chest. Both I and my wolf growled at the same time as we both awoke from the very horrible nightmare we had just had. I threw the duvet away from me to see that I was drenched in sweat and had soaked the sheets and that mattress. What the hell was that dream? It had felt so f*****g real! Speaking of real, I looked down at my chest and felt for the place where I had gotten hit, just over my heart. “f**k!” I thought I had died. My wolf nudged at me. “I know…but I f*****g felt like that arrow had gone right through my chest!” I said out loud and still touched my chest again, to see if I had been hurt. Even my heart was racing too. I sighed and got up from the bed. It was about five in the morning, and I walked naked to my window, overlooking the back of the pack house. Sure enough, there were about four sentinels parading the grounds, with two, at the river. The river. I didn’t believe in dreams, but this one was different. It had felt too real… I shook my head and prepared to shift. There was nothing a little run along the river could not solve. Even my wolf agreed with me, because in no time, we were running along the trees that lined the river bank. The cool morning breeze was alike an aphrodisiac to my fur and I chucked as my wolf howled in satisfaction. There was nothing more refreshing than a good morning run with my wolf. I usually spent most of the dawn, just running and checking the territory at the same time.
