Chapter 1: First Meeting
"Chleo! Are you alright?" Dred rushed to the hospital when he heard about what happened to his friend Chleo. "I'm alright. You don't have to worry about me and come rushing here. Are you still not used to this kind of happening in my life?" Chleo talked to her friend as if nothing happened. Just recently, when she was about to go to work in the hospital, someone tried to kill Chleo by attempting to hit her with a car. Luckily, Chleo was fast and had strong reflexes to avoid the car. Dred sighed. "I almost had a heart attack when I heard about it. But it seems nothing to you." "As if you don't know our friend. She doesn't even have an expression on her face that says she's scared of what happened to her," Mikuru commented. Chleo's friend also works there as a nurse. "You know that I'm not scared to die," Chleo said, still emotionless. "But we are. We are scared of losing a friend. I will tell your dad about it," Dred informed Chleo. Because he is working for Chleo's dad. "Don't dare tell him. Don't bother him, okay? The important thing is that I'm alright. Go now. We have work to do here." "Alright. I won't tell your dad. But I will fetch you later after your work. I have to make sure you go home safe," Dred insisted. "I won't go home tonight. I will be sleeping in the quarters," Chleo announced, without looking at Dred. She is busy reading the patient charts. "Why?" Dred looked at Mikuru, waiting for an answer. "We have a VIP patient from Japan that will be arriving later tonight, and Chleo is assigned to be his private nurse," Mikuru explained to Dred. Dred's forehead wrinkled hearing that. "Is the hospital sure that they are going to assign Chleo to that VIP patient?" "Well, the head says that Chleo is the perfect choice, Mikuru answered," shrugging her shoulders. "Good luck to that patient," Dred said, shaking his head. "Yeah, I'm worried about him," Mikuru agreed with Dred. "You two, don't talk as if I'm not here." "I guess I have to go back to the office. Just call me if something happens to her," Dred told Mikuru. "No need for that. Nothing will happen to me," Chleo assured Dred. "I heard that so many times, Chleo. One more attempt on your life, and I'm going to tell your dad about it," Dred said. "Whatever, Dred. Just go okay? And thanks for worrying about me, by the way," Chleo said to Dred with no emotion on her face. "Alright. I'll go ahead. Bye, Mikuru!" Dred waved his hands to say goodbye, then started walking away. "Bye! Take care, Dred!" Mikuru shouts, then turns to Chleo. "You know what? You are lucky to have a guy friend like Dred. Are you sure there's nothing going on between the two of you?" And she earned a glare from Chleo for that question. "First, I'm not a playgirl like you. Second, what we have is a pure friendship," Chleo answered. "You are really sweet, Chleo," Mikuru said sarcastically. "I'll go my rounds now. Good luck on your duty later to your VIP patient. And please try not to scare him. I heard he is famous and came from a very powerful family in Japan." "As if I care if he is a billionaire or a king," was Chleo's response to Mikuru. Mikuru just shook her head and left Chleo there. **** Later that night, the VIP patient from Japan arrived. He was being treated well by the hospital nurses, doctors, and the head. Except for Chleo, who doesn't mind even knowing that the patient assigned to her is the famous athlete and billionaire Kirko Fuentebella Hanasawa. "Huh? Excuse me, nurse? Can you give me a glass of water?" Kirko asked Chleo, who was just standing there in the corner of the room. "Okay. I'll get you a glass of water," Chleo responded without looking at Kirko and with no expression on her face. "Here." She handed the glass of water to Kirko. "I thought the nurses here were nice and friendly," Kirko commented after drinking the water and giving back the empty glass to Chleo. "Don't you know how to smile, Nurse Chleo?" He read Chleo's nameplate on her uniform. "I don't think my efficiency at work will be affected if I don't smile, sir," Chloe answered. "Yeah, you are right. But it will help boost your patient's mood," Kirko said. "It's already late. You should sleep now, sir. It will help to heal your wound faster if you rest early. Instead of asking me that nonsense," Chleo said, making Kirko frown. "It's not nonsense for me. Because, being an athlete, I'm used to seeing people smile. So, would you smile for me, Nurse Chleo?" Kirko asked Chleo, smiling. "Should I sedate you to put you to sleep, sir?" Chleo asked Kirko while holding a syringe. "H-hey! I don't need that! Why do you have that thing?" Kirko got tense when Chleo started to walk towards his bed. "It will help you relax, sir. Don't worry, it doesn't have any side effects. Give me your arm. Chleo extended her hands, asking for Kirko's hand. "No! Don't come near me! I will report you to your head!" Kirko said with authority. But Chleo seems unbothered. "As if I mind. Just give me your arm now, sir. Chleo was trying to get hold of Kirko's hand when the door opened. "Chleo! What are you doing?" Mikuru exclaimed when she saw Chleo holding a syringe and about to inject it into Kirko. "Nurse! Help me! She is trying to inject me with that thing," Kirko said to Mikuru. He was relieved to see someone come. "I'm just trying to get him to sleep for him to rest, Mikuru," Chleo reasoned. "But I don't need that. Can I ask for another nurse? I want her replaced," Kirko demanded. "I'm sorry for her behavior, sir. I will ask our heads if they can replace her," Mikuru apologetically said to Kirko, then grabbed Chleo's arm to get her away from Kirko's room. "I don't want her here in my room again," Kirko said. "You wish," Chleo replied before Mikuru took her out of Kirko's room. "I can't believe her. She's gorgeous but weird." Kirko heaved a sigh of relief, then rested his back on the bed. "It is those assassins' fault. I would not be in this situation if they hadn't tried to kill me," he murmured to himself.
