CHAPTER ONE
SHIN RIVAS "Hey, you, Raffa Greyson!" The ground practically trembled as I yelled for the name of the man who was conversing with his pals under an old tree nearby. Everyone in our close vicinity turned their heads my way, surprise written in their eyes, which caused my left brow to rise. What is their deal? I eventually had the opportunity to confront the one who had imprisoned me in that place for nearly seven days. Did they believe I'd let it go? Nuh-ah. I wasn't going to let him ignore me this time. I had so much contempt for him that if I held it in, it would certainly explode like a bomb soon, therefore I had to confront him right away to avoid the risk. 'Now is the time to chastise him and label him a jerk!' To be honest, it didn't matter to me if he was in front of his disciples. Yes, I called them "disciples" because, in my opinion, Raffa Greyson is the king of wickedness and they were his henchmen. 'Oh, how I despised them as much as I despised him, and I promised to give them a taste of my escalating wrath. My nose flared and my eyes squinted as I squeezed the sides of my knee-length dress. My legs sped ahead, but I came to a halt when Raffa turned around to face me. Our gazes were instantaneously locked. His full perplexed eyes fastened firmly into my orifices, and as I glued mine to his, I breathed sharply and clutched the left side of my chest as something flinched inside my body. 'Ouch!' I groaned inaudibly, a wince tugging at my face. 'What on earth is that? When did I start getting cardiac problems? Is my erratic heartbeat caused by too much coffee? Or is it because my hatred for Raffa has grown to be too much for my soul to bear?' My jaw tensed, and I scowled at him. I should have anticipated that he would only bring me bad luck rather than anything positive. But hold on! I need to calm down and think about my health problems later because I still have a very crucial task to complete before my once-in-a-lifetime opportunity evaporates. I bore my full concentration on Raffa and proceeded to move forward with a fast stride, watching how his eyes gleamed with mirth. "Seriously?" I huffed sarcastically. 'What's so funny about this?' I became even more enraged when I realized he wasn't taking me seriously. "I presume another escape," Raffa uttered, folding his arms across his chest. He emitted a feeble chuckle that tickled my sensitive ear. Ignoring the frivolous phenomenon, I let out a snarky response, rolling my eyes at him. "Oh no, it's not me. I am not the woman you imprisoned here because I'm merely a product of your hallucinations, your highness!" 'Well, sarcasm is my middle name and if he has an issue with that then s***k me!' Anyway, I expected him to be aggravated, but to my complete wonder, he smiled widely and the guy next to him began to c***k up as well. My brow furrowed in concentration. 'What the hell is going on? What exactly are they laughing about? Do I have a clownish demeanor?' My overly analytical self reacted. 'Nope. They're just making a fool of me.' That justified my utter disdain for them. As I continued to walk in Raffa's direction, my eyes narrowed as I made mental notes about why I disliked him. First. I was supposed to attend a wedding a week ago, but my precious car's engine abruptly failed. While looking for help, I walked into an unfamiliar area. The massive gates that surround the place created the bizarre sense that it was some sort of a compound. Unidentified males materialized in front of me as soon as I walked in. They took me into an empty room before I had a chance to blink or respond. 'Creepy, isn't it?' My thoughts pushed me to the second basis of why I was incompliant. After I was seized, they ignored my attempts to reach out and questioned what was going on. Even though I begged them to let me go and explained that I was merely looking for help and had no malevolent intent, they shunned me. 'Heck! I didn't do anything erroneous. Being kept there against my will is freaking oppressive!' Afterward, it occurred to me that they might have shackled me and exploited me as a captive to demand ransom. Sorry to bust their bubbles, but even though my grandfather is tremendously affluent, his wealth is not mine. 'I am not the owner of any company. They would gain nothing from keeping me there, thus it would be an immense disappointment for them.' Moving on to the prior factor that made me dislike the narrow-minded Raffa and his followers was learning that the vermin serves as the place's acting leader. I couldn't decide whether to call it a mayor or something else, but whatever. Based on the view through the small window of the room where I spent a week, I was convinced that the people who lived in the compound revered him and conducted what he mandated. And when he commanded two men to guard and monitor outside the chamber where they had locked me up, my expression toward him was finalized. He is the most crooked person I've ever met. He would be mistaken if he believed that I was only a regular girl who would cry in a crisis. I wasn't bragging but I am a very intelligent and strong young woman and I gave them proof of those qualities by successfully sneaking out of my enclosure four times. Unfortunately, I was apprehended by those who saw me escaping, so I lost my chances. For a few days, I put them through hardship, which satisfied me since they were incredibly devoted to Raffa. And that horrendous ass. How I detested him, his attractive face, and his ripped figure. The fact that the commander of my kidnappers had attractive looks and a hot body, I mean, it's also unfair to the cosmos, right? My mind is strongly resisting it which made me mentally whine, 'How ludicrous life is in general!' Raffa chortled and I was startled out of my trance. My expression grew glum. 'The idiotic jerk has to be taught not to antagonize me. I am Shin Rivas, and nobody has ever been able to make this incredible woman a laughingstock!' As soon as I stopped in front of him, after finally bridging the gap between us, my right hand sprang into the air. "How dare you!" I snarled and slapped him across the face without hesitation. The blow caused his head to spin 45 degrees. Shocked gasps could be heard all around, but as I've already mentioned, I don't give a freaking damn! He and his followers were momentarily horrified to move, and I inwardly congratulated myself in delight. "There!" I boldly held up my chin while pointing my finger at him. , "Do not mess with me, ever!" I scowled venomously, flicking my hair like those girls in the TV commercials, but as a tingling sensation ran from my knuckles to my arms, my forehead wrinkled. 'What on earth is that?'
