"Ember get up, we have to go now!" Uncle Seth whisper yelled in my ear as he shook me. I shrugged him off. "Ember, you have to get up now! We have to go." "What? Why?" I asked, half a sleep, pushing him away. It feels like I just went to sleep. "Ember, get up now, we have to go. Come on, we don't have much time. We need to go now!" Uncle Seth said again, now pulling the covers off me. "What time is it?" I asked, sitting up and rubbing my eyes. "It's three in the morning." He said, grabbing a bag from the little table in the corner of our room and swinging it over his shoulder. "I just went to sleep an hour ago." I whined and fell back over. Uncle Seth walked over and kneeled down next to my bed. He put his lips right to my ear and whispered. "Listen, Alpha Dimitri left 15 minutes ago. We have 10 minutes to get in the car and out of the border before the next patrol starts. This is our only chance we have to go now. I'll explain everything in the car, now come on." he said, grabbing my arm and pulling me up from the bed.That's when I looked at him. His face was strained and stressed. He had dark circles under his eyes. He looked like he had not slept in days. Now that I think about it, I really haven't seen much of my uncle this week. The pack has been keeping me busy with extra chores and cooking. Today was Ava's birthday, so Dimitri had me running all over the place getting decorations and preparing food for the party. The warrior exams are coming up soon too, so a bunch of the pack members have been putting in extra training, Seth included. I decided not to argue and just go with him. I trusted my uncle. He's the only person I trust. We walked through the pack house as quickly and quietly as we could. It was luck that our room was on the main floor. Okay, maybe not so much luck. We were not originally members of the Hollow moon pack. Seth brought us here when I was a baby. Our pack had been killed by roughs. Alpha Dimitri agreed to let us stay and be part of their pack if we agreed to be house servants. Seth took care of the pack house until I was 8. That's when Dimitri decided I was old enough to help the pack. Being a human in a pack was not fun. I was looked down on for not carrying the Wolf gene. They called me a mut. They said my mother's wolf was weak and not strong enough to pass the wolf to her child, that's why she was mated to a human. I was to do whatever was asked of me. If I refused, I would be beaten. Seth is my uncle, my mom's brother. He has the wolf gene. Seth was not happy about how the pack was treating me. He went to Dimitri to tell him. They got into a big argument about it, but in the end, Dimitri is the Alpha and you can't go against the Alpha. That's around the same time Dimitri had Seth start training as a Warrior. That's also when Seth started tearing the crap out of any guy who put his hands on me. Dimitri couldn't say anything because it happened during training. Seth got his point across when Jack punched me in the face and pushed me down the stairs for refusing to sleep with him. Seth beat him so badly he was in the hospital for three weeks. No one touched me again after that. I was heading towards the pack garage when Seth grabbed my arm and pulled me in the opposite direction. We were walking toward the woods. Seth put his hand to my mouth, then put his finger to his lips. I shook my head, letting him know I understood. I had a ton of questions, but I was not stupid enough to ask them right then. I knew Seth well enough to know something was wrong, and we were in danger. We made it to our car without being seen by anyone, which was a miracle in itself. At any given time, there were always people moving around the pack boundaries. Our car was on the side of the road right over the pack boarders. We didn't talk until we were well past the 15-mile mark from the pack boarders. I was the one to finally break the silence. "Where are we going? What's going on?" I asked, turning and looking at him. "Were going to your uncles, his pack will be able to help me keep you safe." "My uncle? I don't have any other family. They were murdered by rogues." I said, confused. What the hell was he talking about? "I'm not your uncle, I'm your God Father." "Your family was not killed by roughs, they were killed by Dominic. It's a good thing we have a long drive ahead of us, we have a lot to talk about princesses."
