All our pack members greeted me happily as I finally found my destined mate, except for my father who just stared at me seriously without saying a word. I couldn’t tell if he was happy like the others that Alpha Magnus was my destined mate. Iron Pack Alpha? No! This can’t be possible! I haven’t even met the Alpha of the Iron Pack, Magnus, but everyone knows him to be a notorious alpha. Why did the moon goddess choose him to be my destined mate? Is she playing with me? Everyone fell silent and looked at Alpha Magnus as he walked towards me. I just stared at his eyes which seemed to glare at me fiercely, and I couldn’t help but wonder why. Is he angry at me? Not because I was hurt because he rejected me but because I was worried about how my father must be feeling now, especially with the loud whispers going around. This is not what I want. I want him to reject me in a way that makes my father not lose his face in front of different alpha’s and our pack members. “W-Why, Alpha Magnus? Why are you rejecting me as your destined mate?” I couldn’t help but ask him. I should at least know the reason why he rejected me. He walked towards me and stopped just a few inches away. He raised his hand lifted my chin and looked straight into my eyes. I couldn’t understand why I suddenly trembled under his cold gaze. It felt as if his gaze was penetrating deep into my soul. “Because I despise you, Mavi. I despise your family,” he replied in a weak but firm voice, but loud enough for everyone to hear. I heard the loud gasps from the people present in the ceremony and then they started whispering to each othhere regarding what Alpha Magnus said. And after uttering those unexpected words to me, Alpha Magnus turned and faced my father. He locked eyes with my father as if they were battling inside their minds before he walked away without saying goodbye, leaving us with the explanation that he rejected me as his destined mate because he despised me and my family. Why? What great sin did my family commit against him to harbor such hatred towards us, especially towards me when we just met and had our first conversation?
