Chapter 1: Scandal
Silvana My name is Silvana Lopez, and I enjoy painting. My favorite subject was nature. But today, I became intrigued by the prospect of painting the establishment in front of me. I'll be staying at the Rizal lodging house for a while, planning a vacation. I was managing one of our wellness and spa business branches, and I was exhausted not because of the workload, but because running a business is not something I enjoy doing. My parents did not want me to pursue my dream of painting and opening an art gallery. Because I am the sole heir to the Lopez family of businesses, I have no choice but to obey them. That is why painting is just a hobby for me. I usually paint when I have free time or while on vacation. Just like today. The establishment I'm looking out my window right now fascinates me. Because of its structure and design. It appears to be a modern-medieval house. I've been staring at it since I arrived here yesterday. Something in that house seems to be calling to me. That's why I'm painting it now instead of going outside to take a walk and make the most of my vacation. Maybe I'll do it after I finish this one. Or maybe I should go outside and take a closer look at that house. I want to see every detail of its structure in person before I paint it. So I got myself together, then grabbed my phone and sunglasses. Because that house is just across the street, I didn't bother changing my clothes. And when I arrived, I was enthralled. It's more beautiful up close than it is from my room at the inn where I'm staying. Stunning is an understatement; spectacular might be a better word to describe the beauty of this structure that I am currently viewing. I was still in awe, admiring the beauty in front of me, when something from the house caught my eye. I noticed two people arguing from the house's gazebo. Two men in particular. I can't hear what they're saying from where I am, but their actions and facial expressions indicate that they're arguing. And my brow furrowed when I saw what happened next between the two men. I quickly covered my mouth to avoid making a sound, and I hid behind the bushes so they wouldn't see me if they heard my gasp. I can't believe what I witnessed! It's not like I'm naive. I also have no prejudices against homosexuals or same-s*x relationships. But it was my first time witnessing two men kissing. It takes some time for me to recover from what I witnessed. After regaining my composure, I slowly emerged from the bushes and returned my gaze to the gazebo. They are no longer there. I returned to the lodging-house after memorizing every detail of that place. And I can't help but recall the two men I saw not long ago. When I got back to the lodging, I tried to concentrate on painting that house. But the scene I witnessed keeps replaying in my mind. "I guess I'll have to do something else to keep my brain from thinking about it," I reasoned, and went out again, this time with my camera. But I made the wrong decision. Because I just witnessed another scandalous scene involving the same two men I saw earlier. I'm trying to get a good shot angle. But I'm not expecting to capture a particularly intimate moment with my camera. They are in front of the modern-medieval house's gate. That guy is hugging the person he was kissing earlier. And I hurried out of there before they noticed me. "What's going on? Why am I witnessing their intimate moments?" I hissed to myself. "I was hoping for a peaceful vacation and a fascinating subject to paint, but all I got was a distraction," I blabber as I walk away. After looking around, I decided on an overlooking coffee shop. They have a fantastic view from here. It was very soothing and relaxing to get away from the city's pollution and noise. Aside from that, they serve good coffee and a delicious meal at a reasonable price. I'm having a great time here. "I should tell Mildred about this new place I found," I say as I take a selfie with the view and the food and coffee I ordered, then send it to my best friend Mildred. I was checking one of my social media accounts while scrolling through my phone when a post from a friend caught my eye. The caption reads, "One of the most coveted bachelor billionaires was spotted having an intimate moment with a man." The images attached to that post astounded me. There were the two men I had just seen in that modern-medieval house this morning. I just found myself looking for more information about the two men involved in the scandal that is currently trending on social media. One was socialized Greg Smith, and the other was a young billionaire named Prince Hector Valderama. Greg Smith was well-known as a gay socialite. However, Prince Hector Valderama was known to be a straight man. And the young billionaire is now embroiled in a controversy that he is gay. "So, he's not gay?" I can't help but wonder. "But I saw them kissing and back hugging," I added. I'm still reading and watching the news about the controversial billionaire on my phone as I make my way back to the lodging. He claims it was all a hoax. That he is not gay and that he is not involved with Greg Smith. And, as a result of the controversy, the young billionaire is under pressure to demonstrate his masculinity. And people want him to flaunt his relationship with his girlfriend. However, Hector had not recently been seen with any girls, according to reports. I got out of the taxi, still looking at my phone. That's why I didn't notice I was about to collide with someone. I expected to fall to the ground, but the person I ran into snaked his arms around my waist, preventing me from falling. I breathed a sigh of relief and I looked up to say thank you, but I got caught off guard when I saw the face of the man I bumped into. Prince Hector Valderama! I cursed mentally. Of all people, why him? "Are you okay, Miss?" he worriedly asked me in his baritone voice. That brings me back to reality. And I quickly distanced myself from him and composed myself. "Y-yeah," I said. "I'm fine, thank you, and I'm sorry for bumping into you," I apologized. "It's okay; next time, don't use your phone when getting out of the taxi," he said as he turned his back on me. And I just realized I'm on the opposite side of the street instead of at the lodging house. In front of a modern medieval mansion. That's how I ran into him. And now I see him approaching the house's gate. But before he could approach the house, I yelled at him. "Wait a minute! I have a proposal for you!" I exclaimed. I came to a halt when I noticed him standing still. Now, how do I tell him I'm proposing a contract marriage to him?
